Dollhouse (S?) for 3 Year Old...

My daughter has a vivid imagination for an almost 3 year old. I think she is ready for a doll house. I have a few older Sweet Street items (a house, and two shops) I bought at a garage sale, but they don't have any furniture or people. Iam bidding on a set to go with it on Ebay that includes a family and furniture and a few other buildings (school, etc.). This stuff would be for her November b-day (if I win the auction).

I was thinking about getting her a Loving Family "Family Manor" for her big x-mas/santa gift. I usually just do one big gift and a few small things from us for Christmas.

My question is - if I get her the Sweet Street stuff for her birthday (which would give her this little town with a few houses and shops, a car, some furniture and a family) would she even ever play with the bigger doll house? I don't want to get her the giant Loving Family doll house, just the medium sized one. She already plays with her loving family car and family all the time (I bought them at a garage sale) and my Mom is getting her a loving family RV for her b-day.

Can a little girl have too many dollhouses? :) Can you see your 3-4 year old daughters playing with different dollhouses or would she just focus on one?

I just really love the Sweet Street stuff because it has other "houses" to go with it - the school is cute, and hotel, and little shops - I can see her driving her little people around and playing for hours.... but I can also see her playing with the other stuff too.

Thanks for your help! I know I am blessed to be able to spend time thinking about all this stuff! How lucky are we to have things like this to think about at 10:30 at night.

Thanks again,
J.

I'm sure she'll play with both. I practically had a whole doll town complete with ranch, zoo, park, shops, and multiple families. I did focus on my park, zoo, ranch, and mansion more since they had a more personal touch as well as a ton of animals. However, the whole town was personalized and got a lot of usage. Actually, I ended up being a bit of an interior design nut.

We need to get my 4 year-old niece a doll house at some point, I think.

My DD just turned 4 last week and has loved her Dora dollhouse, her little people castle, her other little people stuff, but most of all loves her littlest petshop toys. We probably have $300-$400 worth of littlest petshop stuff! We have 3 of the "houses" and a remote controlled car, a regular car thingy and a carnival, probably 100 pets and tons of accessories.
I think that she'd enjoy it all, especially if she has an imagination like my DD! :)

Watch for holiday sales on the loving family stuff - we got this for our daughters last year or the year before and they love it, but we were able to buy the dollhouse that has the face on the front and got the RV for free @ Toys R Us. I think that was the year the product was launched, and we purchased it in November as a birthday gift for our oldest. Then family and friends can get your daughter the sets that go with it. They like all the sounds that it makes (the doorbell, the flushing toilet, etc). They may not play with it everyday still, but they still bust it out two years later.

Santa brought my granddaughter a caring corners doll house that folds up out of the way. We got pretty much all the caring corner dolls and furniture that goes with it and a lot of the loving family dolls and furniture since they are the same size. I am wishing we would have gotten the loving family house since it is bigger to put the furniture in though. My granddaughter got it when she was 2 and she is now 5 and it is still her favorite thing to play with here. I bought a rubbermaid 3 drawer container to keep all the dolls and furniture in. She plays with this more then she does her barbies.

Our 4 yr old grand daughter has that big imagination too and plays with her "My FIrst Doll House" and her castle, and her "Hide Away Hollow" mouse families and every "Littlest Pet Shop" all at once with every person figure, animal and even pretend food as her characters. She can line them all up and go from building to building and throw in a few cars or books and pretend they all have people living in them. Its funny to watch how she can enjoy them all at once and never tire of any. Its nice now and then when I pick up all the parts to one set and put it away for a few days and she asks for it even with all the others to play with. I know she appreciates them all.

My daughter is now 5 and has two large doll houses. She has The Loving Family and Rapunzel's tower. She also has an Olivia’s dual doll house (it's small) and two very tiny doll houses that we bring when we travel. She loves all her doll houses and uses them regularly. I think we got the Loving family when she was 3. I think if you are going to get the wooden kind that I would just get her one, they are much larger and I think they extra items cost more. Although they usually become collectables later on.
