Hello!! I have started getting migraines frequently. I have tried the preventative medicines and the medicines like Imitrex. Those do not work for me. The only thing that has always helped is prescription pain killers and phenargan for the nausea. However, so many doctors are so afraid to prescribe this medicine. But it helps me. I know I am not alone in this as I have done some research over the internet. Anyway, does anyone know of a doctor that would prescribe this for me. I live in Dallas at NW Hwy. and Midway. Close would be good, but not necessary if it means relief! Thank you and I sure hope someone can help me.

What can I do next?

As a long time migraine sufferer (who has even been on disability for chronic ones), I've tried about everything out there. Dr. Stuart Black is hands down the best migraine doc in the cit (and very well respected- gives lectures everywhere etc). He is also almost impossible to get into, but I have seen other docs at the clinic and they are all fine. I love Dr. Black's nurse/assistant Janice. Would be a good location for youtoo I believe.

I have a long history of battling migraine, and I know how difficult this is. When you don't get the warning signs, none of the prevention meds work. If you do get warning signs, almost anything works! I'd suggest finding a Neurologist who specializes in migraine treatment. Even better if the doctor and staff (at least some of the staff) has suffered from migraines before. If they've had one, they're much more respondent to your needs

I don't have a doctor like this in Dallas, but I did in Memphis when living there. Use a search engine (either thru your insurance provider directory or Google, Switchboard) then call the office and talk to the staff, or set up a consultation. I'd begin by asking questions about their approach with patients, ask for the doc's recommendations to manage the pain. Try these things before asking for the meds so you don't look like an addict. :-) If you're honest about what you've tried and what's worked, they'll work with you to help.

Have you ever tried getting adjusted by a chiropractor? I am a chiropractor and I have treated many patients over the years with migraines. The migraine goes away very quickly and it can help to eliminate the migraines permanently. One of my patients had migraines every day for years. She couldn't get out of bed for days at a time. After one adjustment, she was back on her feet. After a few more adjustments she quit having migraines. I have an office in Plano at Coit and George Bush and one in Mesquite at Galloway and Americana. If you have any questions you can respond to this email or call me at ###-###-####. Thanks!

Try Dr. Henry Raroque in Irving. He's my doctor, as well as several people I know, and I know for a fact that he has prescribed pain killers to one friend of mine.
