Do You Need Special Paint to Paint a Crib?

I know there are paints available that are safe for an infant crib. I would check that out carefully. However, personally, I would leave it the natural color. Who said natural wood isn't a good color for a girl? Do your 'girly' decorating in other ways in the room. The money you don't spend on paint for the crib could go a long way toward some really cute ideas in other areas of the room. And you won't have any worries about paint fumes during your pregnancy either!

I didnt paint a crib but painted a changing table and we used Low VOC paint and in a higher gloss and it worked out perfectly.

They're making alot of natural-product based paints now...I would check in to them. Ask at Home Depot or Lowe's as they should know.

Hi J., My husband just built a bed for our 4 year old and we wanted to paint / stain it but without exposing him to any of the chemicals that you find in the regular paints and stains that you get at the Home Depot. We went to the store this home improvement store in Berkeley that is specialized in earth friendly paints and materials. We stained the bed with a lime green stain from bioshield I believe and it turned out beautifully and I feel totally good about that.
