Do You Make a "Christmas-something" That Would Be Missed? (Food, Treat, Etc)

So I make this Christmas treat. Its a cornflake wreath..similar to a rice krispie treat, but richer tasting with more margarine used, vanilla added...color to make it vibrant..and the little cinnamon imperials for added flavor contrast and color! To me, its not that big of a deal. I made them as a child with my Mom, in small cookie sized ones, and as a young adult, wanted to bring something to my now-hubbys family gathering, so made the same thing as a large platter sized deal, to be cut into pieces (WAY easier for me to make, looked kinda cute on the table, etc). I can make it any size I want..for a group, for a family, etc. And I do!

I make large holiday paperplate sized ones for all of my daycare families, many years for my neighbors (we usually exchange a little something and have for the whole 18 years I have lived here). I make them if I have a small gathering to attend (like my daycare association tomorrow night, etc). For our family gatherings I make huge platter sized ones and they are gone FAST (I could do 2 as most want a chunk to take home as well...some years I make the paper plate sized ones for all the small family sets too!).

Its such a simple thing really, but after about 25 years its just what I am KNOWN for! LOL I can about make them in my sleep! One year I left them at home (small baby and 5 family gatherings in 2 days...Christmas days events..the 2 wreaths got left on the kitchen table after all the baby gear, gifts and other food items got put in the truck on a snowy day). My family was first and seriously, my then 10 year old niece CRIED cuz we didn't have it. Lucky for them my hubby is a nice guy and our house was only 15 miles away AND we have a big truck to get thru the bad weather to go home and get them!! He saved the day! LOL

Today I posted a picture on Facebook of my first 2 of the year..and said "Wreath season has begun" or some such! OMG, the resonse from people I didn't even remember having offered them to before! And the best?? The little girl..not so little anymore and away at college, who I nannied for for the first 8 years of her life...She replied that she missed those things..they literally were her favorite treat at the holidays!

So what do you make that would be so missed???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Recipe..LOL~
Melt a stick of margarine (I always use Blue bonnet..just what I grew up on??)
Melt a bag of marshmallows..I always use name brand Jet Puffed
Add a tiny tich of vanilla and your green color to the shade you like.
Now add corn flakes until it is the consistency you want. I prefer it crunchier, but want it well coated. (again I find them better with the Name Brand flakes).

Form on your platter or plates. If you continually dip your fingers in icy water it will not stick to you. Some use buttered fingers.
Add cinnamon imperials while warm so they stick and set. I like many for each bite or slice. Use a serated knife to "saw" thru it!

One stick/one bag makes 2 perfect paper plate sized ones. I used maybe 3/4 the large box of Corn Flakes.

I changed my profile pic to a platter sized one from last year!

Awwww that's beautiful. I'm known for cooking in general. People look forward to see what new amazing thing I'm going to make. I've been told someone was going to skip a party until they heard I would be going because they knew the food would be so much better. :)
Every single year I make

Baklava
Chocolate Toffee Squares
Puppy Chow
Cappucino Cheesecake
Triple Chocolate Blackforrest Cake

Some years I get special requests - such as Tira Misu, Mississppi MudPie.

Sure, Cranberry mimosas. Have 20 people Christmas day, they don't even get their coats off before they're askin' for them.

Jeesh, maybe you should start a Cornflake Wreath Mail Order Business!

Well what I am known for during the Holidays isn't as "Christmasie" as cornflake wreaths but I HAVE to make deviled eggs for all the parties we attend. I've been making them for the past 40 years and it just isn't a Christmas party without them. One year at our neighborhood party for a joke I came into the party without my trays of eggs and was almost thrown out...lol

The smallest amount I've made during the Holidays was only 10 dozen eggs (240 halves) and the largest amount was 16 dozen eggs (384 halves!!!).

I am also known by family and friends as the "cookie lady". I usually make around 20 different Christmas cookies and 10 different Christmas candies. Along with my trays of deviled eggs I bring trays of Christmas cookies to parties. This year I am scaling back on cookies and will only be making 15 different kinds..lol

OMG! I actually had a dream about the cornflake wreaths last night! My mom used to work with a lady who made them every year...I loved them when I was a little girl.

Any chance you would share the recipe?

ETA: My "must have that everyone loves" is Gluehwein. Hot, spiced German wine. It's delicious. I use the same recipe found on allrecipes.com

No, but I would like to see a question "does someone make a christmas-something you hate and would like to never see again". LOL! My ex aunt used to make this horrid red hot candy salad thing that everyone hated except my uncle. When they divorced, as a joke my mom called her and told her I really MISSED the salad and could she forward me the recipe. That was years ago and we still bring it up around the holidays and laugh about it!

my husband makes Texas Trash(a very hot and spicy chex mix)- 1 box each of wheat, corn&rice chex and 1 box of cherrios, 1 box of cheezit crackers, 1 can party peanuts, half bag of pretzel sticks. 1 cup bacon grease-( never meant to be healthy!)- 1 stick of butter, garlic powder and tabasco sauce to taste- husband uses 1 bottle- if the smell burns your nose, add a little more then you are done. Mix the grease, butter, garlic and tabasco sauce till melted in a sauce pan- mix the other stuff together in a large roaster and coat with seasoning sauce. Bake in oven at 300 for 2&1/2 hours stirring every 15 mins.
Very tasty and will burn your tongue. We make it every year for his work.
I always make the chocolate covered peanut butter crackers. Those are supper easy and delicious! Make peanut butter sandwiches with ritz crackers- coat in melted chocolate(almond bark) let cool. tasty!

My mom and her family always made homemade tamales.

Oh my gosh I loved, loved, loved those.

They were made w/love & hard work.

It would take them 3 or more days of hours & hours of just making those
in the kitchen. Let me tell you: they were appreciated and never went to
waste.

I miss those.

I'm hoping nobody notices that I'm NOT baking cut-out cookies. They are awesome but take DAYS to bake and frost. I'm more into working-out than gaining weight from the process. My family will survive just fine without them.

I make Rice Krispy Treats every Christmas. From as early as I can remember I would make them with my Mom and we'd leave them out for Santa. I remember waking up Christmas morning to see the half eaten Rice Krispy Treat Santa had left to share with me. I am almost 28 and I still make them every year. My Mom passed away 2 and a half years ago and this is the first Christmas I am spending in Tennessee with her cousins-I am baking them and taking them with me to share with them a tradition my Mom and I had. I'm drizziling them with white chocolate and candy canes.

I make the same thing, only mine are cookie size. My neighbor called over Thanksgiving vacation to ask for the recipe. We give them out with our cookie plates.

I also make a Czechoslovakian Hoeska. It;s a Christmas bread, usually done in a wreath, I like mine in loaves, they aren't as dry. But it takes all day. And we make Kolaches, Czech/Polish jelly filled cookies.

I only make these things in December.
