We are also with Pediatricians of Dallas. We started there five years ago with our now kindergartner. We also have a three year old and another boy due any day now. We started out with Dr. Neely - I think he is the primary and definitely the "name" everyone seeoms to know - but his style really wasn't a good fit for us. I think one of the strengths of the practice is that each of the doctors is pretty different as far as their style and approach, so there is something for everyone. We got to Curtis now and we love her. She is pragmatic and no nonsense while still being genuinely interested in our children and our family. She's also very thorough and has caught things early that other doctors might have mised.
Our personal assessment of the others goes something like this: Halsell is really sweet and approachable - we're always happy to see her when Curtis is not available. Neely is a little gruff and can be short, but is supremely competent and we have lots of friends who prefer him most. Watkins is the archetypal grandfatherly pediatrician you grew up with. He's great with the kids, easy on the Moms and just a nice guy. My friend drives from Red Oak to keep her kids with him. Yaeger is the only we have had a few bad experiences with and who I would actually avoid seeing.
Overall, we have been happy with the practice including wait times, availability, access to urgent care, extra resources like lactation consultants, and the response from the nurses advice line.
They do set aside time weekly for new parent interviews, so be sure to take advantage of that.
Congratulations on your new baby and GOOD LUCK~
