Disneyworld on My Son's Birthday

Just so happens we will be at Disneyworld on my son's 8th birthday. Didn't really plan it that way, and he knows we are going. I have been reading the blogs about how to celebrate and I plan on ordering a cake and getting the button so he will get extra perks throughout the day. Other than that I wanted to surprise him with something. Not sure if we will do the character breakfast or not. I was thinking of Jedi Training as he is a huge Star Wars fan and he would love to fight Darth Vader. However, what I have read is you need to get to the park 1st thing and go sign up and the child needs to be with you...no surprise :( . Does anyone else know if there is anyother way to do this? Any other suggestions? Has anyone done the Pirate experience?

What can I do next?

Have you been on disboards.com? We went 2+ years ago and I got SO MUCH info from that forum. You can learn anything. That's the place to ask your question, where Disney fanatics can help you out. I spent hours and hours reading stuff on that site.
Have fun in Disney!

For the Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios, you do have to sign up as soon as the park opens and the child must be with you. There are several time slots throughout the day so if you go to sign up first thing, you can usually get one. The only alternative is if you sign up later in the day when the sessions are full, you can be put on the list as an alternate and you can check if somebody backs out for a time slot--but no guarantees for a spot. It's a fun event and worth doing, though.

My grandsons did the pirate experience. they loved it. in fact now 2 years later they still talk about it. My kids always loved going to one of the fun places on their birthday. there is a pizza planet place maybe do that for his birthday dinner. not fancy in fact is just exactly like the movie an arcade that sells pizza and sandwiches.
