I know i have been on here ALOT lately about these seizures and here i am again! I want to hear from other moms that have an experience similiar to mine. My babies seizure lasted a good 7-8 minutes both times it happened. The first one she had a limp arm while the rest of limbs shook. The second one she actually had another seizure shortly after the first one stopped. So i realize she has had complex febrile seizures, not just simple benign. Any one else have this experience? She has an EEG and MRI next week. She now has a wet cough which means she is getting sick which is of course, freakin me out. Oh my when will i relax again???

What can I do next?

My daughter's first one ever lasted half a second if that....so much that I wouldn't have even know it was a seizure if my husband hadn't been there to see her eyes roll back in her head. Three weeks later, she had one that lasted 30 minutes plus (from the time I found her it was 30 minutes, but I have no idea how long she was seizing for before that). While waiting for the ambulance in the doctor's office, she started seizing again, this time they gave her anti seizure meds and the whole seizure lasted about 12 minutes. While in the hospital, she had an MRI and EEG done. The MRI is a little freaky because they have to sedate them. The EEG was find in my experience, but I couldn't believe that my daughter sat so still and let them put all those electrodes all over her head. As far as relaxing, I get very nervous anytime she starts to show signs of getting ill.

As soon as you think she is getting sick, I would give her some tylenol and
hopefully prevent a febrile seizure. You will never get used to them, but as
long as they are only febrile seizures, you will learn to live with them.

M., I am so sorry your daughter is still having problems. Mostly I remember that we could not put too many clothes on our son, but his were in the winter. Keep the scheduled Tylenol and Motrin doses if she's coughing. It's how fast her temp rises, not how high it gets. Love her and hold her so she's not scared. The tests next week should give you answers. Please let us know.
