Hi,
we are having a very difficult time keeping diaper rash under control on my 7 month old daughter. We currently use Desityn, but have tried Boudreau's Butt Paste and neither are helping it go away. I change her diaper every few hours unless otherwise needed. I give her bath's a lot to try and help things. I let her lay on the flooor today with out a diaper for a while, but her bottom is still sooo chapped. She cries when we put medicine on her. I am greatful for any advice on this crazy topic!

What can I do next?

Hi C. what always worked for my children is to expose the area to sunlight, needs to be direct but only for 30 seconds to a minute a couple times a day. I usually goes away in a couple of days. good luck. V.

Hi C.. For severe diaper rashes I have used aloe vera straight from the aloe plant. It has always worked for me. With all these suggestions I hope something starts working.
Good Luck!

My cousin's son had a terrible rash that would not go away; she used everything and nothing worked! The doctor told her to use Lotromin AF (a foot anti-fungal medication) and it cleared up her son's rash. She saw a change in his rash that same day. Good Luck!

Hello! I have a 16 month old little boy. He has had some severe diaper rash in his short amount of days. I have found that the two things that work the best on diaper of any stage is either cornstarch or a Mary Kay cream(?). The Mary Kay is something that you can use on your feet to keep them from cracking and very soft. I have found that the cornstarch after a warm bath works in about a day and the Mary Kay works in about two or three days. Let me know what you think.

I was told one time to get tea bags (any kind). Feel up the sink with water and put like 5 -6 tea bags in the water and have them sit in the sink for like 15 minutes. It really worked on my son. His diaper rash was gone completely in 2 to 3 days and it really calmed it down almost instantly. Try it, it helped us out. Have a good day and good luck.

The only thing that worked for us was corn meal. Not the powder with cornmeal in it, but just regular corn meal that you would cook with. There are no chemicals for a child's sensitive behind to react to and it cools down the rash quickly. It's kind of messy right out of the box, so if you have an old talcum powder container, you might empty that one out and put corn meal in it for less mess.

We have really good luck with Aquaphor. It's gentle and soothing. And once you get the current rash to clear up, it's a great barrier to keep that little bottom protected.

Also, if you haven't had the doc look at it yet, it might be time. My son gets bad diaper rash that becomes yeast-y and we need prescription Nystatin to clear it up.

I'm not sure where you are located but there is a pharmacy that makes extra special diaper rash cream that works wonders it is just off of Wadsworth and Bowles. It was the only thing that worked on my daughter it is truely amazing stuff! You can also make it yourself but it takes a bit more work everytime. I used a combonation of lotrimin neosporin and desitin, which are the same main ingredients that are in the special cream, you just squirt a little of each into the palm of your hand and mix with your finger and then rub on. Works like a miracle! Good luck! H.
