I am at my wits end here. I have been applying for job after job since the beginning of July, and have gone on countless interviews to come up with nothing. I have been told that I live to far away, I dont have enough experience, and one interview was just because she liked me resume. I am becoming very frustrated and worried because it is becoming very much appartent that I need a job.
My husband is working two jobs; his military job during the day, and Home Depot two nights a week plus weekends. In June, we had made a decision to persue his goal to go to college, and he chose to go to ITT Tech. Well, he registered last week, and starts classes this coming thursday. He is really excited, and I am so proud and happy for him. The problem?... now that he is in school and I still haven't found a job, his weekly schedule goes somehting like this: Monday through Friday he has his military job; Monday, Thursday, and Friday he will have night class until ten; Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday he will be working Home Depot. On the weekends, he will be scheduled to work eight hour shifts, while the weekdays he works until ten thirty, or even eleven. We also have my student loans coming into repayment in November, and with the income we have now, we will not be able to make those payments.
I need to get a job so that he can quit Home Depot and give him some time to study, as well as spend time with us as a family, as well as begin putting money aside for my student loans. With that weekly schedule, he will definatly have no time for family, and have minimal time to study... not to mention stress and fatigue, which makes him cranky and not a fun person to live with. Does anyone have anything that could help me?
I have experience in the medical field. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training this past May. I have earned over a thousand hours of clinical experience, and have clerical experience working in the medical setting. I can type 51 WPM, and have knowledge working with Microsoft Office (word, power point, excel, access, and outlook). I can file papers, answer phones, take messages, put together patient files, make appointments... and I can learn whatever new skills I lack very quickly. I am very organized and have an upbeat personality. Like I said, I am a recent graduate of college, so the only experience I have is my clinical experience, but I did hold some student worker jobs and one at a retail store... so I will work hard.
I have emailed and faxed my resume to at least 100 different places. I have looked at the newspapers every thursday through sunday from July to now... I have accounts in careerbuilders.com, monster.com, and the southflorida one... along with many others my husband has signed me up for... I have even submitted my resume twice to pediatric associates. Once through a person through this website, and another time through the actual website. I have done my resume over three times, the third time getting more calls than before, but nothing that actually landed me a job. Someone called me today and directed me to a cardiology office for a medical records position. I called the place, and my husband is faxing my resume to them tomorrow morning. I hope this is something that will be what I am looking for and will take me.

Hi S.,
Have you tried any temp agencies? Scour the newspapers? Registered with someplace like monster.com? They are a good way to obtain additional work experience. Stay diligent something will turn up. I could take a look at your resume for you if you just want a second opinion. Also you may want to look on the web for interview questions in order to prep for your interviews.
Best of luck...I know its hard, been there!

Have you tried Craigslist.com. There are job postings there in every field in every city across the US and international as well. I'm sure you'd be able to find some potentials in your neighborhood. Also , I don't know where you live but Nova Southeastern University in Davie just opened their huge brand new athletics facility and recreation center. I am sure with your degree if you are near the area they would hire you.
