Hi A.,

I don't know if there is a support group in Denton specifically for PPD, but we do have a member in our MOMS Club who has suffered PPD and can relate to all you're going through. In fact, one of the reasons she joined MOMS Club is to talk to other moms which has helped her get through PPD. We have two MOMS Club chapters in Denton, depending on where you live. MOMS Club is an international organization that offers support for stay-at-home moms and work-at-home moms, and most of our activities are scheduled during the daytime hours when we need the most support. You can learn more about us at http://www.momsclub.org.

For the Denton chapters, I believe the Denton South chapter emcompasses addresses to the west of I-35E. Their website is http://www.momsclubdentonsouth.com. All Denton addresses east of I-35E, also including the towns of Crossroads, Aubrey, Krugerville, Savannah, and Providence Village are part of MOMS Club of Denton Northeast. Website is http://momsclubdentonne.com. Once you join, you can also chat with other MOMS Club members online in our Postpartum Depression Support Group Forum.

If you want local help specifically for PPD, I would call your OB/GYN or one of the Denton hospitals or http://www.ubhdenton.net to see if there is a local PPD support group.

Hope this helps!

PPD is very serious. If you feel you cannot take care of your baby, or have overwhelming fear or trouble performing day to day tasks, then you need to see your doctor. Depression is very serious, and if it has lasted more than a few weeks, then I would make an appointment. I have dealt with this, and let a medical doctor determine the best action for you. Some women just get the blues or stressed out, but PPD is different. Brooke Shields wrote a good book about PPD. I can't remember the name..but it will give you insight to clinical PPD. You are not alone. I pray that you will find the help you need. Don't ever be ashamed to ask for help. Getting help is the best thing for both you and your baby!!

I was in Denton MOMS club for several years and HIGHLY recommend it. My child is older now, but we still have several close friendships that were formed in MOMS Club. Hope you feel better!

I just wanted to let you know that another option is MOPS (mothers of preschoolers). There are several local chapters, which usually meet a couple times a month. The group is faith-based, but you do not have to be religious to join. Check out the website, www.mops.org. I just joined my third MOPS group (had to change due to scheduling and one group reorganizing) and it is great. You get to meet other moms, they have childcare on site for the kiddos so you actually get to talk with other women without being interrupted every 20 seconds. LOL. I had problems with PPD, and this was one thing that really helped. I also spoke with my doctor and saw a therapist for a little while. Good luck. PM me if you need more info or just want to chat.
