Hi Trish,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had two D&Cs, the first one being horribly painful after and it lasted quite a few days (I lost the baby at 12 weeks). I was shocked at how much came out after (sorry if that's TMI, but I wish someone would have warned me! It was very upsetting!) and the second one I lost the baby at 8 weeks, and that D&C wasn't as painful after, but I was also better prepared. Again- I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself!

Hi Trish,

I'm so sorry about your loss.

Yes, I remember that the first day or two is pretty uncomfortable. Depending on how far along you were, you may even have "hormone issue's", as far as being out-of-sync.

When I miscarried years ago, I was 3 1/2 months along, the next morning after the D & C, my breasts had leaked all over the bed.........it was weird and unexpected, but I learned that each body does can do different. Our bodies WERE preparing for a new baby.....then to just have it stop is un-natural.

Please allow yourself some time to heal, both pysically and emotionally. It can be very diffuclt to recover from the experience.

Hello Trish, I am sorry that you miscarried your baby. Having that happen is an emotional and physical experiance that if you hve not done it you just don't get how it could be so hard or devetating.
When I had mine done -- many years ago, my husband was given instructions to have me tell them if I was still feeling pain and discomfort after a week. Back then I am sure they were thinking it was going to be in my head, as well as in my body.
ecently my daughter in law miscarried and was hurting badly in her heart, mind and body. She became very sad, angry and just couldn't understand why it had to be her child, that was taken. She was having a hard time for several weeks and her boss insisted that she take a week off from work.
Think about what you ahve had done. It is an invasive proceedure and not one you likely wanted to sign up for. So it is natural to have pain and discomfort. If it is still there then call your doctor and have him check you out. The reasurance, will do woners for you. Take Care, NanaGlenda

Hi Trish,

You just had an invasive procedure so I would actually give it a few days. Your doc may have prescribed an o/c med like Advil or Motrin to help with the pain. If you don't feel it's adequate, please call his/her office before the weekend and ask if he/she could give you something a bit stronger.

Blessings....

Dear Trish,
I'm sorry to hear you're going through this.
I remember being in quite a bit of pain for the first few days. I'd had lots of surgeries so I thought I was pretty tough, but I was a lot more uncomfortable than I expected. It does get better though. I'm not sure what your doctor gave you for pain, but you may need to request something a little stronger to at least get you through the weekend. You should be physically feeling much better by Monday and if not, have them get you in for a check.
Try to make yourself as comfy as possible and don't overdo it, which can be difficult with a 3 year old. Give yourself some time. Your body needs to sort all this out and it can affect your emotions too.
Do you have someone who can come to your house and look after your daughter while you get some rest or maybe take her to the park or something for a little while?
Try to get some rest. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Take care.
