I'm looking for suggestions as to what would be an appropriate Christmas gift for a wonderful daycare provider who takes care of my 18 month old. The daycare is fabulous so I want to get her a special gift but I don't know her on a personal level so cannot say what her interests are! Any ideas??

Many thanks, M.

What can I do next?

Gift cards are the way to go. Get her a card for a nice place to eat or a hair/nail salon or even something useful like jiffy lube. I started getting those for my parents a few years ago and now also for the kids. Amazing how much those are appreciated. I have stopped giving stuff jsut to give stuff. daycare providers get overwhelmed each year with "stuff" candles, lotions, mugs and the like. and while the thoughts behind are whats important you can only use so much of that kind of thing before it just becomes dust catchers a card with a nice note and a gift card are always greatly appreciated.

When I worked at a daycare, the gifts the children made were very sweet and meaningful to me. This could even be a simple picture they drew. One child made an ornament for me that I used for years until it fell apart. I would actually discourage you from doing anything scented, because kids and coworkers are often sensitive to scent. I really liked gift cards to the nearby coffee shop (great escape on breaks, and frankly, daycare teachers don't make tons of money). Or how about getting a package at your local theater for movies for two? That's something we don't always splurge on, because movies cost so much, but is very fun and won't be too expensive on your end, and she can choose what she wants to see.

We get our awesome provider a Visa gift card. That way she can spend it on whatever she wants.

you could get her a gift card with $20 on it and put it in a card that is created by your child.

HI I run a daycare and a gift card for supplies is good like Walmart, staples or you could even do a gift card for a restuarant. I am always buying tissues, markers, crayons, food etc so grocery stores GC would be good too. I hope this helps.

If I ran a daycare, I would probably want a gift certificate to a spa! :)

You can always get her a really pretty cold weather scarf. That is always nice.
Or even a gift card to Bath and Body Works or whatever store you have that sales good smelly stuff. Also Visa has gift cards, that way she can shop wherever she wants. I think gift cards are awesome.

I think most people like getting gift cards. I generally make (or you can buy), chocolate covered pretzels. I haven't yet met someone who doesn't like them & they're an inexpensive nice gift. I tie up a few with some christmas ribbon. I have the kids give them to the teachers aides, bus drivers, etc. For the teacher I do the same with a gift card.

I think a gift card to a restaurant would be nice. I would give $25 worth. Or if she has her nails done, find out where she goes and get a free manicure for her. How about a massage? I did day care for 27 years and still have the small picture frame ornaments with kids pictures on them. Every year when I decorate my tree I get to remember back to those cute little faces and its a warm fuzzy feeling.

As a teacher, I always liked getting a gift card to an educational store, michael's, etc. That way you don't get her something nice that she won't use.

We put together a little package with a gift card for the teacher, a photo of our child (with a little note, maybe), and some candies or cookies. We also like to purchase something like a toy or game for the daycare classroom. Teachers always appreciate that, too!

Find out what scent she may like and go to Bath and Body works....If you can't find out then get a variety of hand soap scents. Practical and useful and won't break your budget. You could also do that with stationery note cards that have her initials for first name on it.
