Look at the roof of her mouth. Does she have spots on hands/feet? To me it sounded a lot like HFM.
Hi everyone. During this past week, my 3 1/2 year old daughter had a fever ranging from 100 to 104.1. We took her to the doctor last Wednesday and she was diagnosed with walking pneumonia and prescribed an antibiotic (Augmentin). The doctor advised us to bring her back into the office so she can check her lung and it was clear yesterday. I am concerned about the fever sores in her mouth. She isn't eating any solid foods because she says her mouth hurts. Thank God she is drinking liquids so I don't have to worry about her dehydrating. The pediatrician advised us that this is normal and happens when children have really high fevers, but she advised me that there is nothing that I can give her since they are on her gums and inside her mouth. Her fevers are gone. I have never experienced this. Her gums are all swollen and red. My husband and I are giving her cold liquids to ease her pain. Any suggestions or sharing of similar stories would be greatly appreciated!
I took her to the pediatrician today. It is not coxsackie. It is a result of her high fevers throughout the week. Thanks for your responses everyone. Appreciate it!

We have been living the same nightmare :( He is also 3 1/2 and was sick with a sinus infection and was put on zithromax. While on that he got an ear infection and was put on omnicef. Then the blisters came out and he spiked a high fever. Turns out, the blisters and fever were due to hand/mouth/foot disease...so sad. He is in so much pain and the only thing to relieve it is motrin. He cannot sleep, and cannot eat much at all. They say it should run it's course in 3-4 days but he has had it full blown going on 7 days. I feel your pain, and your little one's. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby is such pain. *HUGS*
You can take a mild solution of peroxide and water-use Q- tips and dab the sores- poor little gal!
This really sound like Hand, Foot and Mouth. When my two younger ones had this the Dr gave us what she called "magic mouthwash" it was a scrip with about 3 things in it that kind of numbed the mouth after they swissed it around. I don't know if your DR does this or not mine has 4 children under 5 so she knows what we go through when the little ones are sick. As for the hand foot and mouth it is a virius so there really isn't anything you can do for it just let it run it's course. SORRY I know it is not easy.
sounds to me like hand foot and mouth. my kids have had this so many times. she many have some skin irritation inbetween her finders and toes, also possibly in diaper area. they dont give them anything i dont think. malox in the mouth for sores and nothing citrus or salty. bland bland blah. she will be happy to be back to a good diet when she is feeling better.
hugs to her and hugs to you.
I hope she is feeling well soon.
Sounds like Coxsackie Virus. There is no treatment it has to run it's course. Motrin or Tylenol for pain and cool liquids like you are doing. Milk Shakes or Smoothies, Yogurt, Ice Cream will help to fill her up if she isn't eating. Stay away from juices the acid may burn. Yogurt may also be a good choice. I do think they make something she can rinse her mouth with maybe ask the pharmacist, and a doc can prescribe it to help the sores heal quicker.
I would get her some of the 100% fruit popcicles. Or fruit sorbet. Also Chicken noodle soup may help since the salt in it will help the sores. Hugs to you and your lil girl.
No shared stories, but I would recommend a milkshake.
Could it be Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease?

Hi K.,
Fever sores break out because her immune system has been compromised. The key is simply to rebuild it. The simplest and I would say first step is to get some elderberry extract. It, in liquid form, tastes really good, is simply food so there is no chance of overdose and it will build her immune system. My kids told their friends that it was what Mary Poppins gave Jane and Michael....You can pick it up at the local health store. Non caustic high grade tea tree oil can be put on them topically but most three year olds cant handle the taste. It will heal them from the outside in but the elderberry works from the inside out.
Principled chiropractic care will also help her immune system. I started my youngest daughter in chiropractic care before she even saw our home. We went straight from the hospital to my chiropractors office and she has been in chiropractic care ever since like the rest of our family. Many people think chiropractic is simply for bones and back problems but if the spine is the lifeline to the nervous system, then it would make sense that if it is alligned properly, then the other parts of the body are working at their optimum level.
If you want to go the full gambit and get everyone's immune system working really well, then a detoxification of your home and body will be the next step. If you're interested in taking it there, let me know and I'll walk you through what we did. My family doesn't get sick anymore and if we do pick up a little something, it's gone before the day is out.
God bless,
M.
Try live cultered yogurt and get her back to the doctor.
I had my wisdom teeth pulled and got a yeast infection in my mouth.
It's also called thrush.
Antibiotics can cause it but there is a kind they can give her to clear it up.
You swish it around and swallow it so it clears the digestive tract as well.
Mine was so bad, I couldn't even drink liquids, so maybe your daughter's will go away. Don't know. If she's not better, check into it.
Give her yogurt and let her swish with warm salt water. That is very healing.
Best wishes.
My little boy has gotten this from the hand/foot/mouth virus, but more recently had blisters inside his cheeks with a cold. They lasted about 5 days and the doctor recommended I put maalox inside his cheeks to ease the pain.
