My Dad was telling me about some insurance that individuals and small business can obtain. I'm not sure of the name, but I'm sure you can find out through the health dept. or just browzing the web. I think it is called Texas Health Insurance, and you can join other Texans in a "pool". Essentially forming one large group of people, of individuals and small business. They are able to give more reasonable rates because you have formed a large group.

Other options would be medicaid and CCS. If one of the kids has a major illness these will often kick in. You have to sign up for it through a government office. CCS is crippled children's services.

Check out ehealthinsurance.com I think? I went here a while back and after you enter in some brief info about your family. It will give you a list of plans, deductibles, copays, etc.... I found some great rates with BCBS for about $300-400 for family coverage.

I beleive the state has an adult medicaid program that may help your mom.
If you have heard of CHIPS/Medicaid, they have an adult program also, so check them out if you like.
