When my kids had tubes in their ears we either used wax or cotton balls with vaseline.
My 15 month old daughter recently had tubes placed in her ears. Her ENT doctor said her ears must be covered during bathtime and when she swims, as to keep water out. I put silicone putty in her ears the first night to wash her hair and she freaked out! She hated it and to be perfectly honest...I hated it. The silicone putty kept falling out and she was picking at it...VERY STRESSFUL! Has anyone gone through this and know of anything else I can use to keep my daughter's ears dry. Otherwise, she is going to be the smelly girl at school :-) Thanks!

A warm blow dryer (Not too warm!) on the lowest settnig will help to dry out her ears and soothe.

My daughter is scheduled for ear tubes next week. When I went for my pre-op visit whith the ENT new gave me ear plugs called DOC's PROPLUG (www.proplugs.com). the only thing is that they have different sizes. I can only help with size by telling you that my daughter is 9 monts old and she is in an XS. Maybe the website can help with sizing. I have ben using them since we got them to get my daughter used to them and she doesn't mind them.
Also, my mom just ordered me a head band thatis supposed to work great for swimming. I am not sure how much hair you can wash with it on. (www.earbandit.com) This item came highly recommeded to her by a coworker whose daughter went through quite a few childhood years with ear tubes.
Hope it helps!!! C.
My son had tubes put in at 18 months (now 2). The Dr. said to keep them as dry as possible. I had him hold washcloths over his ears when washing his hair. They soaked up the water and didn't bother his ears. It also gave him something to do. Now, it doesn't matter. If he gets water in them, he just tips his head to the side and rubs his ear. The tubes are placed to let fluid out and releive pressure. I wouldn't worry about it to much or make a real big deal out of it for her.

My daughter had tubes at 7 months. She is now 10 yrs old. She get's ear molds made from the ENT. They fit comfortably in her ears because they are made special for her. She also uses the earbandit over the ear molds when she goes swimming. It works great. Getting water in her ears is painful and she has gotten really painful ear infections as a result of it. We get the ear molds every year and she get's to choose the colors she wants.
Good Luck.
I work for an ENT practice and we have an audiologist who makes ear molds and also sells these waterproof headbands that keep water out of the ears. It might be something you want to look into. Also I work in Oradell and I see you live in Dumont which is like right around the corner. Let me know if you want some more info. Good luck!
