Daughter Is Soaking Through Diaper at Night

My 9 month old daughter is a VERY heavy sleeper. Good for me right, not really. She is soaking through her diapers at night. I have her in size 3. I have tried doubling up on diapers and also getting the pull up diapers to go over the regular diapers just for night time. Nothing is working. I hate having to wash her bedding every day and I'm sure she hates to sit in it. She doesn't wake up crying or anything. Has anyone had this problem? How do I resolve it before it gives her a rash or something?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It turns out that I was using the wrong size diaper. We went to her 9 month check up and found out she weighs 21 lbs. Since I moved her up a size she hasn't soaked through. First time Mom is so trial and error. Thank you all for your suggestions. They helped a bunch.

Have you tried the Huggies Overnight? You can find them online in size 3, but the stores usually start at 4. Thankfully my daughter can fit into the 4's. They have worked wonders.

Otherwise, you might just have to suck it up and wake her up in the middle of the night. Is she hard to put down? Once my daughter is in her "dead-sleep" mode, I can change her diaper and her clothes while she's asleep. :)

HI J.-

My 14 month old is in 3's (yes she is long and skinny), and she also wakes up with wet diapers and wet clothes in the morning. How much liquid are you giving her right before bed? My daughter still likes a bottle, so that contributes to her wet diapers. I have occasionally gone in and changed her before I go to bed because by that time she is out and will sleep through the changing. I have not tried them, but I believe there is a product called Diaper Doublers that you can find at Babies R Us. It goes in the diaper and is supposed to help with overnight leakage.

You're definitely not alone with the laundry. Good luck

My daughter soaked her diapers all of the time when she was a baby too. I found that putting a woman's maxi pad in her nighttime diaper really worked:) I hope this helps you!

What brand of diapers are you using? I used to use Huggies and had the same problem. I have since switched to Pampers Baby Dry. Sometimes it seems like the next morning I have a 2 pound diaper to change, but I have never had a leak. They are a little bit more expensive, so I buy the huge boxes because they're cheaper per diaper.

What brand are you using? I find that the cheaper ones don't work very well. How much does your baby weigh? Seems like a 3 might be to big for her. Would she let you change her in the middle of the night? I know, kind of a pain but it might be worth trying. Never a dull moment when you have kids and the first one is always trial and error, when your second one comes along you will be a real pro at it! :) Hang in there, it will get better, I know what you mean about doing laundry every day, gets tiring!

Hi J., my daughter is 8 months and also wears size 3 and i have the same problem where she soaks through her diaper. She doesn't wake up crying either so what i do is change her diaper right before she goes to bed and i set my alarm 3-4 hours later and wake up to change her diaper again. She is awake by 6:30 every morning and by that time her diaper is pretty wet again but i find that she doesnt soak through anymore! hope you work out your problem.

love B.
