My 9y/o daughter got warts from a friend that came over that had warts on the bottoms of her feet. Her friend complained about her feet hurting and I looked at her feet to see they were plantar warts.They shared the shower and my daughter got one a few weeks later. I didn't even know she had one at first because she didn't tell me until the wart started spreading. When she showed me her foot she had a new one starting on her other foot. She's really embarrassed by the warts and wont wear flip flops anymore because somebody noticed the warts when she was picking something up off the floor at school. .She's had them for 1 year and we have tried otc treatments but they haven't worked.. They hurt when she stands for a long time or wears certain pars of shoes that irritate her warts. The first wart was on her heel and they have spread to 12 warts on the bottoms of her feet. We're about to just give up and hope they go away on their own. I am just worried that she will get more warts if we wait. will she?
Swimmers get these. My sons went through this. It's hard.
You need to get to a doctor and have them frozen. It is painful, but she will only be rid of them like this. So sorry.
Didn't you take this poor kid to the doctor? If not, seriously??? Get her to the doctor. This is treatable.
Are you serious? It's been a year and you're "waiting" on them to go away instead of seeing a Dr?
Not only do her feet hurt, it's destroying her self confidence.
How could you do this to her? Knowingly allow her to get her self confidence drained, live with pain, embarrassment and not get a diagnosis with treatment from a Dr.

It's been a year? I'd have taken her to the pediatrician or the podiatrist about 11 months ago. It's time for medical intervention, Mom. Your kid is both embarrassed and uncomfortable.
This is a common problem that a family doctor or dermatologist can easily take care of. Why have you waited a year to seek professional treatment? Your daughter is in pain and embarrassed by this. This requires medical care.
why haven't you gone to the doctor? They can burn/freeze them off and then she wont have them anymore.
So, what you said is that your daughter got a contagious illness from someone else, so if anyone in your family happens to accidentally touch something that her feet have been on they can get them too, they hurt, they're spreading, and you've tried over the counter stuff that hasn't worked....have you considered taking her to the doctor and having them treated professionally? Maybe have them burned off or cut off or chemically taken off?
Warts are caused by viral infections. They're a virus symptom. Think about all the viruses you're aware of (some very minor, like a 24 hour kind of stomach virus that goes away pretty quickly, to serious viruses like HIV or Ebola), and realize that you're letting your daughter suffer the effects of a virus that is causing her pain when she stands!
Plus, warts are highly contagious, as you now know, since she got her virus from a friend with whom she shared a shower. Are you really aware that you're allowing a highly contagious virus to remain in your home unchecked for a year? You're risking a lot.
Sure, warts aren't Ebola. I'm not trying to equate the two at all. But you're subjecting your daughter to pain and embarrassment, and letting her endure a virus, hoping that the rampant virus will just clear up. Blisters heal, as do most bruises, as they're caused by an injury. Warts are caused by a living, active virus, and now you're seeing how they can spread. They are not a harmless thing like a freckle. They're a disease. Please treat your daughter's disease by taking her to a podiatrist (foot doctor; that would be my first choice).

I've had plantar warts a few times and the OTC salicylic acid treatment always worked, but yeah,it took a while. That said, they were in single ones, only one or two-- I addressed them pretty quickly, but it sounds like your daughter may have a more complex case.
I've never had one 'go away on their own'. Some will, after a year or two, but in your daughter's case, I would not wait. As she has had them this long, a doctor should probably have a look to make sure it's the sort of wart you are trying to treat,and they may have a prescription strength version of the treatment or some information to help you find the best product for the problem/know what your options are/prevent spreading.
Be sure to always have her wear shower shoes/flip flops when in someone else's shower/locker room. At home, a bleach water treatment should be done on the shower you all use-- they do spread easily. Sorry. :( I know they hurt. And yeah, they will continue to spread. These warts are caused by HPV, so you really need to get this addressed NOW.

My daughter went through something similar. The warts were small, but they were clustered, and there were too many spread out all over to try some of the home or over the counter solutions. I took her to the pediatrician just one time, and she applied some kind of special medication treatment right there at the clinic. Totally got rid of all of it, amazing. Yes, call your pediatrician for help with this
i would of taken her to see the dr after a few months of this. get an appt with her dr soon and get it fixed.
Yep, planters warts on the bottom of the feet hurt like heck. I had a huge one when I was a swimmer and lifeguard in high school. Always having wet feet made it worse. Take her to the doctor. The duct tape method might work, but if there are a lot of them or if they are large it might not completely go away. They need to find the "mother" wart and get the core out to prevent it from continuing to spread. It will hurt. Mine they had to slice the top of the wart off and freeze it. The core went deep enough that they had to also burn it. I walked around with a good size hole in the bottom of my foot for awhile. They left it open (with a bandage on it) so it could heal from the inside out. I've never had another one.
Take her in to see the doctor. They can remove them.
It's been a year and it's time to take her to the doctor - pediatrician or podiatrist - and a podiatrist might be best because I think 12 warts is rather extreme and she needs help with this asap.
I had a plantar wart in the 2nd grade which would not go away.
It was growing inward and I had quite a deep hole in my heel.
Eventually the doctor sent me to have my foot irradiated.
Basically they x-rayed my foot without putting film in the machine and that finally killed it.
That was way back in the 60's so I don't know if they still do that anymore.

One of my grandsons get these all the time. They use the duct tape method to get rid of them. Google it. Very easy to do and really works. Give it a try but seriously at this point I'd probably have taken her to the doctors.

Have you seen a dermatologist or podiatrist? When OTC doesn't work out, that's your next stop, particularly when it is causing foot pain. Plantar warts sometimes require surgical removal.
Please take your child to a doctor. There is no need for her to live with these...there are simple medical treatments that can help. I'm all for using OTC remedies as a first resort but with no resolution (after a year!!) it's time to consult a pro.

I had surgery on a plantars wart when I was a child. I'll never forget it. Why on earth have you waited so long?!?!?
