Daughter Allergic to Dye in Diapers? Any Disposables That Are Dye-free .. &Work

My youngest is almost 18 mo. Since summer started she has been getting a rash down each side of her bottom underneath her diaper. She'll go outside to play w/ no rash and come inside 30 min. later with full-blown itchy hives on her bottom. I know that it is not a heat rash as it is big red patches, not little red bumps. It looks like stripes that correspond to the blue colored leakguard in Huggies, Pampers and Luvs. It does respond to oral Benedryl after several doses. Does anyone else have a child w/ this problem? If so, have you found a disposable that is dye-free that actually works? I know that cloth would be a solution, but I would rather stick with disposables since we will hopefully be potty-training this winter.

What can I do next?

I tried 7th Generation when my daughter was having a similar issue. They seemed to work, but are expensive. They are chlorine free and latex free - the two most common allergens in diapers. You may also want to try the generic ones at Whole Foods. I think the are very similar to 7th Generation, but a bit cheaper. Also Amazon.com and diapers.com will sell them to you at a better price and I think you can get free shipping on both places. One thing you may also want to try though - and it worked for us is Walmart! Friends recommended both Parent's Choice and White Cloud from Walmart. Neither are dye free, but for some reason, many kids who are sensitive to regular diapers do well in these. It is working for us so far! Amazingly it is alos the Parent's Choice Sensistive wipes that are the only ones that work on my son!

I think 7th Generation diapers are dye free. I have used them since my little girl came home from the hospital, and I have never had a problem with them.
