is a great site!
My husband loves when I make beef stew. You can make it with steak chunks or hamburger meat, either is great. Also could use chicken, I have used all the above. Add some broth, carrots, celery, potatoes, and onion, let it cook for a few hours and it will taste so good.
I have also thrown in some pork chops with some potatoes or rice and let it cook and turned out really juicy and good.
So many possibilities!
Pot roast... throw in potatoes, carrots, bay leaves, some seasoning, can of beef broth... delish!!
Chicken chili... frozen chicken breasts or tenders, add salsa (or canned diced tomatoes), beans (drain any kind except black beans), can or frozen corn, can of chicken broth, season with taco seasoning or chili powder or both
There are some really good crockpot recipe cookbooks out there, or google crockpot recipes.
This is my favorite, because it's sooo easy, and you only need 5 ingredients. The other thing I like is that it only takes 4 1/4 to 5 1/4 hours on low. I'm a SAHM. I throw it together at lunch time and it's ready at dinner. All I do is make some rice, frozen veggie, and maybe a salad. I got the recipe from a Taste of Home mag. and my family loves it. I like to let it cook 5 1/4 hours or more, and you could cut it with a fork :)
sweet n' sour pork chops
1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple
1 cup honey BBQ sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons chili sauce
4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless) 3/4 inch thick
Mix 1st 4 ingredients in a small bowl.
Pour half into the crock pot, add the chops, then add the remaining sauce. Cook on low 4 1/4 to 5 1/4 hours or until meat is tender.
i like chicken in the crock pot. I brown it first which is a bit time consuming, but then layer some carrots and celery on the botton and a little liquid and then the chicken.
I like pulled pork in the the crock pot too. no recipe off the top of my head.sorry
There was a kindle crock pot recipe book that was free a few days ago. One of the other ladies on this site actually gave me the link... it was the query about where to find free kindle books. You don't have to have a kindle, to use it though. You can download the kindle app free, and get it directly on your computer or whatever.
throw in a bunch of boneless chicken breasts with a botttle of italian dressing, cook on low all day. shred and use for tacos, salads, add bbq sauce and put on buns, enciladas, etc. same thing for boneless pork chops. also throw in a frozen roast with some cut up potatoes and veggies and cook on low all day. good stuff!!!
A relative just recently sent me this link on FB. I have only tried one recipe so far , but I am excited to try more. I especially like that it even has summer recipes, which as you know, is a must here in Texas.

(we tried the mango lettuce wraps, very tasty, but we didn't care for the wraps. They fell apart and were really messy. So we put it over some leftover rice instead...very nice).
BBQ Beef sandwiches:
2 lb chuck roast & quartered onion in the crock (no liquid).
Cook on low 8 hrs or HI 4 hrs.
Drain liquid. Shred meat with 2 large forks.
Mix 1 cup BBQ sauce & 1/2 c. apricot preserves.
Pour onto meat, mix & warm about 15 minutes.
Serve on buns.
We also like frozen meatballs & sauce as meatball sandwiches.
And I also put round steak, onion & tomato sauce (Lo 8, Hi 4) and serve over rice.
Fix IT And Forget It is a good crock pot cookbook.
Cook a whole bunch of chicken breasts and then shred it. It can be used for chicken tacos with beans, on top of pizza, in chicken salad, chicken noodle soup, etc.
Happy dining!
We LOVE the crock pot!! Just made our favorite recipe last night... always a hit!!
1 large beef roast
1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup flour or cornstarch
2 cups of water
Mix all of the ingredients together with the water, and pour over the roast. Cook on low all day.... absolutely fabulous!!! Serve with white rice, or mashed potatoes and green beans. We never have leftovers from this!
And I completely agree... crockpot liners are worth their weight in gold!! No mess... easy cleanup!!
