P.B.
I belong to a moms group through meetup.com and I found it helpful to at least get out of the house and talk to other adults. So, you might want to check that out as well.
I'm looking for a good counselor in the westside/Hillsboro area. I am feeling a bit depressed and lonely. I don't have family or friends that I can really talk to. My spouse is no help. I just need to bend someones ear so I don't internalize it. I don't want to be depressed and teach my daughter to hold it in. I am a SAHM, so $$ is an issue. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks for all the good advice. I am going to call and make an appointment w/ a counselor. I am already part of a Mom's group and tried talking to some but they all have their own difficulties.

Hi J.,
There's a student clinic at the Process Work Institute (a form of counseling) that charges on a sliding scale, starting at $25 per hour. Here's the link: http://www.processwork.org/rwc.htm
It's called the River's Way Clinic and they're located at:
The Process Work Institute

I used Rob Soloman. his phone # is ###-###-####. He is Located in Beaverton off of Watson and 1st right next to the Beaverton Florist.I had insurance that covered him so I just paid my copay. Not sure hoe much he is out of pocket. I saw him for 3 or 4 years and it made a huge difference to some stuff that happened in my childhood.
The baby blues connection www.babybluesconnection.org has a 24 hour hotline you can call and support groups for moms of babies up to 1 year. Your daughter is a little older than that. However, if you call the hotline number ###-###-####. They may be able to reccommend someone to talk to further who would be sensitive to your needs as a SAHM.
Additionally, if you just need to get out of the house more and set up a friendship network there are a couple of possibilities. http://www.momsclub.org/ will give you info on a mom's group you can belong to.
I started seeing a counselor at the Wildwood Psychiatric Resource Center when my second son was 13 months old based on a recommendation from my OB/GYN. I see Dr. Alex Ricketts and have been generally happy with him as a sounding board, although I will admit I don't always feel comfortable talking to him about certain things just because he is a man. At the time he was the only counseler I could get into in a timely manner (however I did need an evening/weekend appt.) There are several women counselers there as well. If you need to pay out of pocket I'm sure it's not cheap. My visits are covered by insurance, so I only pay my co-pay. If you have insurance, you may want to see if it would be covered. Here's the link to their website...
