I don't deep fry.
Sunday I made potato chips with my apple peeler corer from Pampered Chef and I deep fried them, ok--never again.
Now what do I do with the old oil that is still sitting on my stove?
It''s corn oil if that makes a difference.

What can I do next?

Throw it away. Corn or vegetable oil becomes rancid after deep frying and causes free radical damage to your cells.

Throwing away your oil is not akin to throwing away your money as one poster suggested. It's cheaper to throw away rancid oil today than to be in poor health.

Cheers!

Put it back in the container and put it on the shelf. The next time you need oil for something use it.

If you are really rich, it doesn't make any difference if you keep it or throw it away. I live in the Poor House in the Poverty Flats subdivision and would not throw money or oil away. If you keep it and later decide you don't want it or can't use it you can always throw it away then.

Good luck to you and yours.

it can be reused. i keep mine in a glass jar in the cupboard. My Mom and Grandma always kept their's in an old metal coffee can. potatoe chips are a tough one, it only takes a second to overcook and burn them or they can be rubbery if undercooked. but if you can manage to get them just right, they are yummy. try sweet potatoes next time, for some reason they always turn out better. i love sweet potato french fries.

since this isn't something you do often and you likely don't have a empty butter dish sitting there waiting, double up some plastic shopping bags and pour it in then toss it out. Just remember it's there when you go to take the trash out in case it leaks.

Margie:

Put the oil in a plastic container...you should be able to throw it away in the regular trash.

May I ask what was wrong with the chips from the ACS? too curly?

Any way - as I said - I would put the oil in a sealed container and throw it away.
