Has anyone cooked a turkey in a roaster oven? This is my first time cooking Thanksgiving and I am nervous about my first turkey. I am thinking of using my roaster oven (that I have never used before). Any suggestions/recipes welcomed!!

What can I do next?

We cooked two turkey's last year. One in the roaster the other deep fried. Everyone loved the roaster turkey the best. We just put it in the roaster with a little water and cooked it over night on low. It was wonderful! Good luck!

I've done hams in my roaster oven and they turn out great. I haven't done a turkey in one, but I can't see why it wouldn't also be great. You just can't fit a HUGE turkey in it. Happy Thanksgiving.

I've cooked my last few turkeys in the roaster. I brine them the night before-makes them really moist.

What I have found is that they tend to cook faster in a roaster oven so make sure you have a good thermometer. I have a digital one that warns you when it is getting close. I would check it a few times and turn down the turkey if it was cooking too fast.

We cook one in the oven & one in the roaster.
Lots of butter and white wine makes it moist & flavorful.
The easiest thing I have done is buy a smoked turkey & heat it in the roaster~ it's pricier but everyone loves it!

I have and it was fine. I had to use an aluminum foil tent over the top because it was a little tall for the roaster cover. The appearance wasn't as perfectly pretty as a turkey done in the oven, but I think that's because the foil kept touching the top and it didn't brown as evenly. But everything else was normal, cooked evenly and tasted fine. Good luck!

I did this last year & it was great. I did brown the turkey first in a 425 oven for 20-30 minutes, then moved it to the roaster. Was very moist, which is one of the advantages of using a roaster oven (lots of steam). The other advantage, of course, is your oven is free to cook all of the sides! Would be happy to share my recipe...it's quite lengthy, so I don't want to post it here but just PM me if you want it! Good luck & Happy Thanksgiving!
