That will be fine. Brown and black are both neutrals, so you can mix and match at will there. Maybe add a brighter accent color (lime green throw pillows? Vase?) to liven things up.
this may sound dumb but we are moving soon and the house we are moving to the living room is burnt orange and the couch we are getting is dark brown. All of my picture frames and vases etc are black. Do you think this would look fine with the dark brown couches or should i either get new ones or just paint them brown?
Thanks! very helpful! :)

Black goes with everything. Not a problem to leave as is.
Orange goes wonderfully with both black and brown. Once you get settled find some throw pillows and maybe a blanket throw that has both black and brown in them. You could also accent with yellow and cream colors to brighten it up..
Sounds fine. Black goes with pretty much everything.
Keep them black. You don't want everything to be brown. I agree with Catherine, add something bright like light green or yellow, something to liven it up.
Black is fine, add some other black accessories to pick up the accent and you should be fine.
The colors match, but sound very dark. You might want to brighten it up other colors.
your couches and vases are neutral colors so should go with just about anything. I wouldn't sweat it.
It sounds like it will be fine, but sort of retro looking? Burnt orange and brown reminds me of the living room decor my parents had in the early 80s.
I would rather paint the walls, or incorporate some light colored items, such as soft ivory floor length drapes and pillows, a light colored area rug... Otherwise, black and brown go fine together.
I think it sounds okay. Black and brown are neutrals, and burnt orange goes with both. It's fashionable these days for things to go with each other, but not necessarily to match each other.
So try it before you start any painting. You may want to add something lighter for contrast. But wait until you see the room in person.
