Why not call and ask your doc now so you're prepared IF you need it? Hope not!
The '1 week crud' has been making the round in my family, and I am a bit worried that I am next. Everyone who has had it so far seems pretty miserable... even while taking medicine. The stuff they take (Theraflu, I think.. not sure) says to consult a doctor if nursing... I was just wondering if there are any flu/cold medicines out there that are safe to just take while nursing without talking to a doctor. I don't need anything now, but if I DO wind up sick on the couch, I want to know what to send hubby for. lol.

Always best to ask your midwife/OB/Ped. They know best. But from experience(I breastfed for a year, just finished 6 weeks ago) Go with what you took WHILE pregnant.
No not even Benadryl is safe to use while nursing it will dry up your milk what dries you up for congestion/ sinus will dry up your milk supply.Call your breastfeeding clinic
Start upping your zinc and vit c intake pronto!!
All are safe to take during nursing... the two issues are: usually temporarily suppresses milk production and if you have a 6 months or under infant, some drowsiness in the infant may occur and you need to watch for that.
Alavert & Tylenol cough syrup were the only 100% no issues.
Phenergan VC syrup, Primatene, Prometh VC syrup, Promethazine cough syrup, Rynatuss, Tavist allergy/cold/headache were in the unsafe category.
Always play it safe and call the dr-the general rule is if it is something that doesn't cross to the placenta it's ok. But I'd always doublecheck.
