Hi Moms! Both of my girls have beanie babies as their "lovies". Since they are so loved both the cats have become a shade of gray. I was wondering has anyone put beanie babies in the washer and dryer? I'm afraid to ruin them b/c both go to sleep with them. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

So What Happened?

I washed and dryed them yesterday afternoon and they turned out beautiful, almost brand new. Thanks for all the great advice!

I've placed all of my daughters stuffed animals in the washer and dryer with no problem. The only ones I don't do are the ones that make some kind of noise - those get hand washed. Also, you might want to consider once a week placing the animals in the dryer for 15 minutes or so to get mildew and dust mites off of them. The heat from the dryer does the trick!
good luck - M.

Put them in a pillow case and then wash and dry them. I wash my son's Elmo quite often this way and he (Elmo) has survived all the washes and dryings.

I have washed Beanie Babies before. I did as the previous perosn said - I put them in a pillow case on gentle, cold water. I did not put themint he dryer tho. I let them air dry.

They shouldn't get ruined. The trick I used to do was wash them inside on a pillow case. This prevents the eyes from falling off and getting scratched in the dryer. Another suggestion is to buy identical "lovies" to have as replacements. That is also helpful if they get lost. Key thing is to not let your child know that you have these extras.

I've never done it, but my sister-in-law has put beanie babies in the washer and dryer. I think they came out fine.

I've washed a bunch of them and they've always come out just fine. Just threw them in on the gentle cycle and hung to dry.
