Anyone know of a product to get the built up grease off of appliances? I have a stainless steal coffiee pot that is by the stove so it has a film on it. So do the "burner plates" on my stove and the top of my microwave, etc. I try to use non fume products since we all have allergies in our house. Anyone have a "miracle product"? Or do I just have to do a lot of scrubbing? While we are on the subject, anything to whiten stains on bisque colored toaster oven?

I have stainless steel as well and I use Windex. Not the blue kind but the clear kind. It's basically just vinegar and water but it really works and it's not damaging.
For the stove, refrigerator and most appliance I recommend Soft Scrub with bleach (not the gel) It works great. I've never tried it on stainless, though. Maybe you could test it in an inconspicuous place and see if it scratches. I love Soft Scrub!
goo gone works. The ultimate, fastest and easiest is Mr Clean Magic eraser - it took 12 years of cooking grease and dirt off the top of my fridge like magi BUT, I always wonder about how dangerous it is..
Have you tried white vinegar mixed with water?
The only thing that we found to get the layer of grease and spray oil was Tough & Tender by Melaleuca. You have to find someone who's a distributor. It's a bit pricey, but we have found it to be an amazing cleaner.
Really warm water with plenty of dish dtergent....wear rubber gloves so you can take the water temp being hot.
baking soda and a little water works excellent! So does a product Bon Ami (costs $1).
Either of these products with a scratcher pad -- clean as a whistle! You may want to wear gloves with the soda as I find it hard on my skin.
Shaklee has excellent, safe products and they are sold through independent distributors, not retail chains.
I use oven cleaner on my stovetop and all my kitchen appliances to remove stuck on grease. Just spray a liberal coating on, let sit for 10 minutes and wipe off with a wet sponge. If the grease is really old you may need to repeat a couple of times. On movable objects I just run under a hot tap.
i buy all of my products from an online wholesale club. it helps me save a lot of money and they are naturally based, so they are a LOT easier on allergies and breathing problems. Definitely works great on grease too! all of their stuff works better then anything i ever bought at the store.

I just bought a Wagner steamer and tried it on my stove over the weekend. It worked great and actually removed the built up grease. The best thing about it was that I didn't have to use chemicals to clean and I saw results right away. It also did wonders on my shower tiles/grout. Love it!
BAR KEEPER'S FREIEND!! it is the best, its a powder tha you just pour on, then wet an scrub and amazingly all stains just come off (especially grease stains). you should be able to get it at any major grocery store (jewel, dominicks, etc). have fun!
I agree with Patty. Go with Shaklee, especially the Basic H and Scour Off.
Simple Green is great at cutting grease, though I haven't been able to find it lately at Jewel. It has a strong smell, like oranges. I'm sensitive - though not allergic - to smells, and for some reason, SG does not bother me.
i use baking soda to remove almost everything. It works well on grease, without scratching, but I would try an inconspicuous part of the stove first. It doesn't require a lot of scrubbing and of course there are no fumes and it is non toxic to skin...

I've found that the Windex wipes (sold in a container like the clorox or lysol wipes would be) worked really well for removing that greasy film off of my appliances. Windex itself doesn't do the trick, but the wipes worked great!
