Cleaning a Room in a Resort, What to Bring?

My husband and I and our two small children are heading to florida and the bahamas and I was wondering if anyone ever traveled and brought with them things to clean the room before staying in it. I once saw a lady who used to clean hotels for a living telling us about how sometimes she or other ladies, if they were tired would sometimes skip some rooms and quickly clean around some areas. I want to make the rooms safe for my children and I. Has anyone every brought with them things to clean and what did you bring?

What can I do next?

i dont clean the whole room, but i do sanitize the phone, toilet, doorknobs and the remote for the tv especially (you dont wanna know!)... and... dont even touch the bedspreads. as soon as you get there, roll it up in a ball inside out and stash it someplace, or better yet, give it back and say no thanks. i also bring dish soap to rewash the glasses etc in the room. good to have anyway, good for stains on clothes. just get those alcohol or sanitizing wipes, then you dont have to worry about the airport regs. dishsoap in a little travel shampoo bottle. have a good trip.

Hehehe...this is even sad that I have a respond to this but I always clean my hotel room and been called CRAZY by my husband about it (him and I have different hygiene habits) :D and I seen other people look at me funny because of it too ... but I can't HELP IT!!!
Well, my advice is to bring Lysol and a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a roll of paper towel :). I dust the room with Lysol (inside of the drowse, around the bad, nightstands, closet, door knobs....) then I clean the bathroom with rubbing alcohol (sink, counters...). All this will take you about 20min. ... to me it's so worth it b/c that is the only way I can relax and enjoy the room...
Oh and I also bring sheets from home for my kid (I just do that because she is still so small).
I hope this helps and try to enjoy your vacation...

yes, i have travelled with my kids but have never brought anything to clean the rooms with. plus, i don't think you can bring cleaning supplies if you're flying. but here's the thing: inspect the room when you get it and every day. if you see something you don't like ring the reception and ask for a redo cleaning. oh and one more thing, relax. enjoy your vacation.

Yes-this is right up my alley! I am a germaphobe and I feel better once I know the room has had a once-over by me. I use clorox cleanups to clean handles, knobs, toilets, remote, phone and anything at my kids' height level. I also keep alcohol wipes for tables, feeding areas as clorox isn't so safe unless rinsed before using on something that will go in a mouth. Good luck and have fun.

A can of Lysol or container of Clorox wipes and some paper cups is all you will need. Then enjoy.
