My sister really like Easter by the Lake in Eagan.... It's pretty laid back , I have been there a couple times with her. Here is the link: http://www.easter.org/xoops/modules/wiwimod/index.php?pag...
I have yet to find a church that I feel comfortable at. Im not a big religious nut and I dont want to feel sucked in when I walk in the door. I would like to get my kids back into sunday school and whatever else goes along with it. THey are not involved in a whole lot so it would be fun. Most of the churches I have attended are dry and boring. Is there anything in Eagan that is laid back and culturally diverse as we are a mixed race family.
p.s We are not catholic.

Hi S.,
We just started going to church last year and we are really liking it! Easter Lutheran on the Lake, it's off of Pilot Knob & Cliff Rd. There are 2 locations one is more traditional and this one is very modern.
Good luck searching!

I have 2 kids and they both attend the sunday school and seem to really enjoy the lessons. (ages 11 & 9)
We attend Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan and I work there part time. I'm not sure I would call it "racially diverse" although we do have some inter racial families. It does have a more casual service option though. We have two locations (we call them the "Hill" and the "Lake") and the Lake location has a band-led worship service that is more contemporary and casual. It is a big church, but I've never felt overwhelmed. There are church school options at both locations on Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoon/evenings. Send me a message if I can give you any more information.
I am a member of Shepard of the Valley which is on the border of Apple Valley & Eagan. I have been going to that chuch for about 20 years.
I love it and don't mind to travel from St. Paul to get there.
I also teach GodZone (Sunday school program) for Kindergarten.
They have both Traditional and Contemporary services.
If you want to know more, their Website is www.sotv.org. There it lists everything that you need to know about the church. It is very culturally diverse.
I have a suggestion, although it is not in Eagan. Have you ever been to Lake Harriet Spiritual Community?? If you enjoy honoring all faiths, like music and drumming, and would like to feel welcome and comfortable this is the place for you and your family(I am sure the kids would enjoy it too). Good Luck!!
We attend Shepard of the Valley which is on the border of Apple Valley & Eagan. My husband is anti-church and has been comfortable going there. They have a variety of different types of services (though, I have only attended the traditional one), but it does seem to be culturally diverse as well. It is Lutheran. Worth a try :)
My brother-in-law is pastor at Hope Lutheran Church - it's right off Cedar Ave/77 where it meets 62. I am not a church-goer, but he's a great pastor. He is in his 30s and has 3 little kids, the church is really nice and family-friendly, and I think he does a really good job of making his sermons relevant to real life and interesting. I would definitely encourage you to check it out if you're not a "big religious nut" because that's not their style. :)
check out chapel hill church. 4888 pilot knob eagan. lots of culturally / ethnically mixed families, and a great youth and children's program. highly recommended.
Hello,
Not sure what you are looking for, but our church has been the biggest blessing in my life. It is a great community of believers and upbeat. A lot of singing, ect. The chuch is called Community of Hope Lutheran church. It's in Rosemount. It is a lutheran ELCA church, but very comtemporary. You should check out their web site. COHLC.org. The pastor really knows how to deliver a message and help you relate it to what's going on in your life today. Let me know if you have any questions. M.
I'll toss out our church. Trinity Lone Oak off Hwy 55 and Lone Oak Road is a nice Missouri Lutheran Church and we felt no pressure and the pastor is meeting with me as often as I need to help me grow to have faith. They have one or two Indian families and I've noticed another family where the wife is a light dark color. It's not as culturally diverse as I think you want but I think it's worth giving it a try a few times. My oldest attends Sunday school and likes it and she also goes to their pre-k school. They offer school from age 3-8th grade. It is a traditional service one at 8am I think, Sunday school and adult bible study is at 9:15am, and 2nd service starts at 10:30am. No bands but the church is affiliated with Emmanual Church on 70th street (sp?) and that does have a contemporary service and you get a discount if your kids attend the school at Trinity.
Good luck and I hope you find a good church that suits what you're looking for.
My family goes to Eagan Hills Alliance on Diffley Road in Eagan. It is wonderful and not dry and boring. There is Awanas on Thursday nights for your son and youth group on Weds for your daughter. I hope that helps.

Hi S.~
I know what you mean about boring...I married into a Missouri Synod Lutheran family. :-) I searched high and low for a church in Eagan, Rosemount and Apple vally that was not boring. The church I found is not in Eagan but is on the corner of Pilot Knob and Hwy 42 in Apple Valley. It is far from boring and we have a great children's program. My 5 and 2 year old love it! Have you heard of Crossroads in Eagan? It's new to Eagan -- in fact the launch is this coming weekend (Sept 28), so a great time to visit. There will be a new message series starting called "Refuel your life." You can learn more from http://www.crossroadschurch.cc/welcome.htm Be sure to click through the "Eagan" links to see how that campus came to be and why, and where it's located!
At the other campus, there are many different cultures, backgrounds, colors, handicaps, sizes and shapes. Nobody is excluded. The kids programming is fantastic, and the messages for everyone are relevant and great. There are several pastors who speak, but the main one in Eagan is very hip. I wouldn't say this is a churchy church at all, and definitely not boring -- rather fun, hip, and relevant. The music is contemporary, and the whole place is pretty laid back!
We attend the other campus, but are excited to visit the Eagan one soon. Maybe we'll see you there!
My girls and I attend Unity of the Valley. It is actually in Savage, about a 20 minute drive for me, I live near Hwy 3 and Cliff Rd in Eagan. Here is the link to the website

All I can say is, it helps me with my everyday life. Good luck finding someplace comfortable!
Hi S.. I'll toss mine out there for ya too. I attend in Burnsville and my kids like it. I have 3 boys that go to SS ages 13, 12, and 4. There are always activities for the kids thru out the month as well. My older boys go every week for their young men, young women activities. We attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The young women's program is really good, I know they have a great leader and are always doing things.
Good Luck I know how important it is to feel comfy in a church. This is one that I found when I was 18 (used to be Baptist) but because I felt so "at home" this is where I have stayed.

I also attend Shepherd of the Valley in Apple Valley (Johnny Cake & McAndrews). I had gotten out of going to church and my oldest daughter was in kindergarten & asking questions about God that I couldn't answer. This church was just what we needed.
They offer GoDZone (Sunday School) on Monday nights, and 3 times on Sunday for preschool-5th grade (choose your time for your son). They offer extra activities in the summer and evenings/weekends during the year. My kids LOVE the programs. The also have an annual Celebration of Baptism where all the kids of one age/grade (1 yr. to 5th grade) have an activity time and are given a special gift from the church.
There are middle school and high school activities, including confirmation. My kids are younger so I don't know as much about that, but they seem to do some pretty cool activities from what I've seen presented in church and on the bulletin boards.
We do go to the contemporary service which is smaller than the one in the main sanctuary. There are 7 pastors, 5 male, 2 female, ranging from just out of seminary to semi-retired. They are all friendly and approachable...easy to get to know.
As you can tell, I really love the church. I thought I was just signing up for the kids' benefits, but now I realize how much I enjoy my Bible study and the contemporary services. Check it out. www.sotv.org

So it is not Eagan but I go to Woodland hills in St Paul. Great service, kids programs, small groups and very diverse. Check it out :) www.whchurch.org
