Does anyone know of good neigborhoods that are all deck out for Christmas? My kids love driving around seeing lights. Sometimes it is hard because the ligts are here and there. So if anyone knows of a street(s) or a neighborhood I would appreciate it.

So What Happened?

Friday night we took the kids to the Windcrest neighborhood and we had a great time. We loved finding all of the winners and seeing santa was a treat. Thank you so much for suggesting this neigborhood. We would love to try some of the other suggestions before Christmas. Thanks again for everyone replying to much question. I really appreciate everyone's time.

My husband drove past the river walk the other night and came home raving. He really wants us to go down there to walk around. He said it was amazing and that it wasn't crowded. I was going to say University of Incarnate Word too. It's very pretty.

Morning K.;

There are some communities that have contest for the best Christmas lights, not quite sure which ones those are but,
have you been to Incarnate Word College? Or on the River Walk?

There is an area around Trinity College where some of the homes are really lite up, which, this is close to Incarnate Word so you can go thru both, on the same night. Hildebrand Ave is the connecting point of both, just before the Expressway traveling east you can turn left or right and go thru an area of very "Rich" homes that have some outstanding lights! Going East on Hildebrand when you turn left or north you will be going thru Olmos Park, when you turn right or
south you will be going thru Trinity area!
Enjoy!
Merry Christmas

The Windcrest area has been known for their lights for years. They have a contest each year. It is usually crowded but well worth the time. From 35 take Walzem Road down past the old Windsor Park Mall. Make a left almost anywhere in that area and you should be in the thick of the lights. Have fun! I use to do this with my children. Now they are all grown from 29 to 41. J.

Get that Kids Magazine that is usually at every store or resturanant, I know they have them at Jim's Coffee Shop's. In it they will list where lighting shows are. Last year we found one in there and it was between San Antonio and Boerne off of IH 10. It was on a farm/ranch and they had a huge light show where you paid $5 per car and drove your car through all the displays. At the end they had a log house where Santa was and you could have your photo taken with Santa. They also had hot cocoa and cider and the kids could decorate cookies and had live reindeer as well. It was wonderful and the kids loved it. Of course it was so cold that night which made it even more a Christmas feeling. There are supposedly several of these shows around town. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.

We go every year to Windcrest they have a map of the neighborhood so you you can choose where you would like to go. They have maps avaiable at the fire department or you can pick them up at their City Hall 8601 Midcrown. The website for them is www.ci.windcrest.tx.us, when it comes up choose living in Windcrest and then light up and it will tell you more. Maps can be picked up on the 14th and the light up will be on the 15th. Also we take the kids to ride the river barge downtown to look at the lights along the riverwalk with a nice cup of hot chocolate. Hope this helps.
