My husbands Grandma is a movie buff, and mine was too (she passed away 3 years ago on Thanksgiving day sadly, but she was younger, only 70, but had some mobility issues, so movies were a great thing for her!)
We did a Netflix membership for them both. We managed it for my Mom (my brother did as he lived close by)..Mom would write down Movies she thought of, my brother would print lists or something for her, and they made it work. With the older Grandma, who is actually very computer savvy (thanks to classes at the community center!), she did it all online herself! She LOVES it. She can see all her golden oldies and some new ones that attract her attention.
Both loved a cleaning lady we arranged for them, craft magazines as both were crafters, updated recording devices to record their craft shows to watch over and over. Grandma is on a fixed budget so she likes the gift cards, renewal of her newspaper (for the puzzles on Sunday!)....and anything she offers on a list (usually good quality rubber bottom slippers, a good, but small fry pan as she is cooking for one, etc). We did alot of craft supplies (fancy paper for the Grandma as she makes her own cards)
For both, rides places and bringing some nice easy leftovers (like when I make a big pot of soup or pan of casserole..things that warm well...neither liked cooking for one.
Both LOVED LOVED the tied together fleece blankets my then pre-teen daughter made for both of them. A nice lap blanket size for watching TV or to fold at the end of the bed to pull up on colder nights or for a quick nap without mussing the whole bed up.
Good luck and happy gifting!
