Hi Mamas,

How early do you start baking your holiday cookies and do they stay fresh? How do you keep them fresh?

And feel free to share any yummy cookie recipes!!!

Thanks!

The sooner the better! Keep the bar's last though only because I have noticed that they don't taste as fresh! I think I usually start about 2 weeks before Christmas although I may start a bit earlier only because I love sending them in festive baskets as gifts for our neighbor's...Here's a family favorite and have never had a complain about these bar's..Guarantee you'll LOVE them! Warning; they are extremely addictive! Here's the link---- http://www.landolakes.com/recipe/2237/chocolate-drizzled-...
Hope you have a wonderful Holiday season!

I start about 2 weeks before Christmas & I've never had an issue with cookies staying fresh. I have good Tupperware in all different sizes for the cookies that are more fragile & I just use gallon-sized ziploc bags for those that are a little more hearty.

We start right after Thanksgiving. We put them in ziploc bags in the freezer and then we take them out as needed for Christmas events. We usually only do about 3 different kinds since all the family bakes something. Our cookies taste fine after taking them out of the freezer.

We bake all the time, through fall and winter so there is no worries on keeping anything fresh. LoL

I've heard of people freezing them but I never have. With a family of three boys I don't have to worry about anything I bake being there in a few days.

I've also heard of putting a slice of bread in with the cookies but I think thats to keep the cookies softer?

I started the first week of November this year - my husband came home as said that he needed SEVEN trays to give out to his guys at work this year!!! Factor in the folks at school and what I send out to family and friends and I figured I'd better start early :-) I try and bake one batch of something different every day and package them in freezer bags and stick them in the garage freezer. They keep fine in there. I get most of my recipies from the foodnetwork.com or bakerella.com

LOL, I bake one batch of cookies, the weekend just before Christmas. They live in a ziplock bag.
