Hey A., we live in K-town, but visit Ramstein also. There are a few playground in the Ramstein area. A nice big one is in the housing area by the schools, right acroos from the skating park. hope that helps.
Hi! Maybe I have just completely missed them...but I was wondering if there are any outside playgrounds at Ramstein? I have seen some at Vogelweh, but can't recall seeing them at Ramstein. When we are doing errands there, it would be nice to stop and have lunch if the weather is sunny!
Ahhhh...thanks! I see they are "hidden" at Ramstein in the housing/CDC areas and at Donnelly (sp?) Park ;)I will check them out! They are easy to find near the park at Vogelweh, and around housing in Baumholder. O.K. Mr Sun-come out!!

Hi! I live in Baumholder (for about 6 months) and before here lived in Wiesbaden for a year and 1/2. I got an e-mail from my FRG a few days ago telling us things we can do to keep us busy while the guys are gone.... I hope that this helps.....I know that you've gotten several responses for the playground, so I thought maybe since you've only been here 6 months that you'd like to have some info on other places to go too....Sternenland in Idar is supposed to be "the bomb" =) And there is stuff for bigger kids to to also. Here you go!!

Or the Dinosaur Park in Kaiserslautern
http://www.thethunderchild.com/Travel/DinoPark/DinoPark.html
What is the Dinosaur Park? It's a walking tour through time - past 64 "true-to-life" models of dinosaurs, amphibians and fish, each with an identifying sign giving its name and a little bit of information about it.
These models are spaced out in a large park that also contains a small, free skateboarding park, Miniature Golf (a few Euro to play, the attendant will more than likely know English, and she sells icecream, too!), and several types of playgrounds, including water spinners, for kids.
At Trier there is the Spielzeugmuseum (Toy Museum) on Nagelstrasse is definitely worth a stop - Germans have always been wonderful toy makers and you'll see some of the best here: a big collection of mechanical toys, trains, dolls, tin soldiers, and stuffed animals.
Further away, Want to see some monkeys?
Go to www.stripes.com . Search Alsace Monkeys
You can take a self guided tour of the Haut-Koenigsbourg..which is not your typical 15th-century castle or see Monkey Mountain.
The park was established in 1969 to study and breed Barbary macaques. Today there are more than 280 of them roaming an area of about 60 acres.
But this is no typical research center or zoo. In a small section of the park, there is a marked walkway where visitors can come face to face with the monkeys and feed them popcorn.
In Frankfurt Senckenberg Museum of Natural History (Naturmuseum Senckenberg) - One of the biggest natural history museums in Germany. Exhibits cover the evolution of the Earth, there's a great paleontology exhibit from Grube Messel, a pit with fossils dating back 50 million years. Grube Messel is considered the world's the richest site of the Eocene era, especially the early stages of the evolution of mammals.
Frankfurt Zoo (Zoologischer Garten) - A true city zoo, the special place here is the Grzimek House, set up to mimic night time so you can watch nocturnal animals at play. Braver kids will want to see the Exotarium, with its reptiles and insect exhibits.
Museum fur Post und Kommunikation (Museum for Post and Communication) - A museum all about communication, it's really geared for kids, with lots of multimedia exhibits of the history of postal services in Germany (those Thurn und Taxis again!) and elsewhere. Don't miss the upstairs area with hands-on activities: a printing press, bits of electronic junk and glue guns (great for older kids), a working pneumatic tube mail system, drawing and painting, plus a nice cafe where you can get very good brownies.
Eissporthalle Frankfurt - Slip over to the Ice Rink with two arenas and an in-line track kids (and adults) can skate heart out or take in a hockey game. During summer, inline skaters can try their skills on half pipes and street courses.
Frankfurt tip: Wednesday's admission is free to many of the city's museums, but they are closed on Mondays.
Just north of Cologne, is The Movie Park!

If you are in Cologne, DO NOT miss the Dom. The Cathedral, I think, is more beautiful than Notre Dame in Paris. Just personal opinion. And while you are there, go to the Chocolate factory!

There is a nice big one back in housing- they even have two enormous multi-story slides built into a hill! :-)
There are alot of playgrounds on Ramstein in the housing area. You can find one behind most of the stairwell quarters. Also there is a very nice one at Donnelly Park they even have a picnic area. The next time you are on Ramstein and the weather is nice I suggest you check it out. A little warning: your kids won't want to leave.

Yes, there are ones between the housing areas, but the best one is at Donnelly Park. Great equipment and slides. A few Tables.
Yes, Donolly park is awesome! It's somewhat hard to find now due to the construction but IMO it's the best one around here! Once the weather gets nicer, if you want to go off post the Dinosaur Park in K-Town has some great play areas.
The main playground at Ramstein (and only one that I know of) is in the middle of housing over at Donnelly Park. Housing is just down the road from the shoppette on base. That playground is pretty nice. There are two different sides, one for younger kids and one for older children, so that if your children are smaller, you don't have to worry about them getting run over by one of the bigger kids!
There are several playgrounds, the biggest being at Donally park, which is down the road from the shoppette. There is also the elementary school playground, and multiple ones scattered throughout housing, behind the buildings. Hope this helps :)
Yes, they have a nice playground by the housing area. If you go past the commissary on the side of the theatre, toward the school(Ramstein Elementary I think), there are two: one is to the left across from the school and for the other one, turn right at the school and go past the TLF until you get to a stop sign. You will see some walled off housing (General's hsg) make a right at the stop sign and it will be straight ahead on the right (across from the General's hsg). There is construction there now but you just park and walk. I like that one because there is the cushioned floor and a fun steep slide. They do have some benches there for parents to sit and watch.
you might want to drive through post housing. i'm sure you can find one there.
My name is T. im a mom of 4 living at vogelweh but stationed at ramstein. their is a really nice playground if you go past the commissary straight through housing and you will run into it we go their alot when the weather is good their is a place for small kids and bigger ones plus fielsd to plat ball or have a picnic
