Wow. Now that makes me tear up.
How many of you have heard of it?
It is a very rare genetic condition called Niemann-Pick C (NPC) - a form of dementia known as children's Alzheimer's.
There are only 500 known cases world wide.
Here is a link to one woman's story. If you look it up, you can find a few more stories out there.

One of the stories I found actually said that they had their child on ADD medication as well. I imagine because they were having difficulty diagnosing the child.
Yes, thank God that its rare.
But one can always mention it to their Dr. You just never know.
But I hope they do not have it!
Carrie...I just want you to be informed about this. This is very very rare. And although highly unlikely, always worth a mention to his Docs. The fact that it is so rare, could possibly mean that they have overlooked this as an option.
I pray that whatever is wrong with your son, that they do figure it out. And hopefully it will be something treatable.
My heart goes out to you.
Angie...this is such an awful disease. I can't believe that you know someone who is dealing with it. I will have to go read the link you provided.
Thank you to all the mommies out there who took the time to read up on this and educate yourself on this issue.
Wow. Now that makes me tear up.
I understand why you are asking, since you mentioned it on another post.
It is extraordinarily rare - thank God. I do think that child on the other thread is over medicated.
Bottom line - Alzheimers is a terrible thing. Thanks for the link.

Hi I looked at the symptoms and yes My son has all of the symptoms Plus others. If Alzheimers is limited to just the symptoms listed it could not be that.. He has so many issues and I have been dealing with it from birth. I sometimes do not realize it is not normal boy behavior. Like he can not tie his shoes or dress himself. he is 9. I do not know what to do but testing starts Monday. He has been under doc, care since age 4 and I have came to except it. But now that he is reverting I am confused............?
Here's another story: http://www.cathrynandcorynne.org/5.html
