child-friendly nail polish?:
My 20 mos. old daughter has become very interested in "girly" products. I am searching for:
-a REAL nail polish that I will apply to her toes and fingers(not the "Tinker-Bell brand" type stuff for kid play that simply rubs off)
-that will dry fast (so she doesn't get it all over my house prior to drying), though she is real patient as I paint, so I stall to allow the ones I have already painted time to dry
-and will not be harmful if she puts her fingers in her mouth, some chips off, and it is (possibly) ingestsed (she still uses her fingers a lot to eat)
-Easy clean-up would be a plus, but not necessary since I will be doing the painting.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

I use a nail polish by "Honeybee Gardens" (www.honeybeegardens.com). I bought it when I was pregnant @ a maternity and childrens' boutique in Mansfield (they've closed since them :( It has virtually no smell (which is good for asthmatics!). You do have to apply more than one coat for it to stay on. Hope you like it!
I use Melaleuca's nail polish because it does not have formaldehyde(quaternium15/18) in it. It stays on well and is much safer for children.

Honestly, I don't think there is a "child-safe" nail polish. The reason I say this is because I work in food service and per the health department, NO ONE working in the establishment is permitted to where nail polish due to potential for chipped nail polish to contaminate the food. I'm not sure if that means it is not safe to have in your mouth or if it is just gross to have someones chipped nail polish in your food (which would definately be GROSS). Hope that helps.
When my daughter was little, she got a gift one year that was a book for decorating your nails and it came with about 6 colors of polish. The book is by Klutz and it is in Target, bookstores, etc. We had a good time with all the designs and the polish just peeled off easily. It was not like "regular" polish but it worked well for her. We still have it and she still uses the designs. She is 12 now!

check out the EWG.com website. They test all kinds of things for safety and rate them based on the ingredients and the testing done. You can decide what level of safe you want to go with. I use it all the time and love it! Best of everything on your new home! V.
I think as long as you get a good quality nail polish she will be fine. I use OPI and Nicole on both my 2 year old and myself and have never had a problem with it chipping off. You can usually find OPI & Nicole products at Trade Secrets in the malls or Beauty Brand stores.
