My oldest didn't have the option of the chicken pox vaccine, so he just dealt with chicken pox. My younger ones all got the vaccine, but at about 3 yrs old. It is now required in many school districts and preschools/daycares. It does NOT protect against chicken pox forever, so getting it now may leave your child open to it when they are older, when chicken pox can be more damaging. So, we're all kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
