Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new car and was wondering if anything out there exists that can accomodate 3 carseats for my kids across one row?? I don't care the cost, it's all about wondering if such car is even available?? I have 2 convertible carseats and a larger Britax for my underweight special needs 9yo. I want something that I can have all of them on one row.

TIA!!

PS: I'm currently driving a Honda Odyssey which is great, but I always have to have one in the third row all by themselves and I don't want that setup anymore.

What can I do next?

My neighbor has a Honda Pilot as well as a 6yr old, 4yr old, & 2yr old. She is able to fit all three car seats across the middle row with no issues.

We just bought a Suburban (had one years ago and missed it), and I just wanted to second 'InMy30s' comment about how awesome they are. It's a BIG vehicle, but it drives like a smaller one, somehow. I think it's because the longer wheelbase makes it feel less wobbly than many SUVs.

Happy with all the family in the new Suburban.

I have a 2005 Chevy Suburban and all 3 will fit in one row.

~For what it's worth, I LOVE my suburban! Best car I have ever owned. I plan on driving it till it dies! Not sure if you have ever test driven one but you should...my husband was skeptical at first (thought it was too big, called it a land yacht) but it is like driving a luxury sedan. So smooth! Like my Grandma's Caddy or Grandpa's Lincoln! We opted for the bench seat in front so our fits 9 and we have plenty of room for all our luggage! We have a grip of kids and we all fit so comfortably! Just last week we all piled in to go to breakfast and husband and I smiled at each other and commented on how cool it is to fit everyone! Loved it!

Husband, myself, 21y/o son, 18y/o son, 17y/o nephew, 13y/o nephew, 9y/o son, 7y/o son + 4 (almost 5) y/o daughter...all piled in! *The 13y/o sat in the front w/husband and I but sometimes we let the 9y/o b/c the air bag in front gauges your weight and turns them off if you do not weigh enough, cool feature!

Husband wants to trade it in and get a brand new one and even though I do like the look of newer body style, I am so in love with it that I truly want to drive it til it dies...out of love that we paid it off and also out of curiosity on how long it will last! Ha!

Yes, the 2011 Odyssey fits 3 carseats in the second row.

You can do 3 across in most cars (well, not small ones) with a Diono seat. 3 across very well. 2 and another narrow seat, probably.

They fit harnessed for our kids to age 6.5 (and then we got the booster which will get them to the seatbelt age, maybe 10 or 11). Note the Diono does convert to a booster but it doesn't REALLY because it's outgrown the same time as the harness, so at that point just buying a high-back Diono booster made sense.

you are going to need a suburban or other extra large truck .

if the kids are old enough for the little booster seats.. you might be able to move them to that type of seat.

With the larger Britax I am not sure if you can get 3 across the only ones I can think of is something like a full size suburban or one of the larger SUVs even then it might be tight.

What year is your Odyssey? Mine is a 2011, and I can fit three car seats across. We have two Sunshine Kids Radian car seats and a Britax Frontier booster. They fit just fine, but if you want to access the third row, you pretty much have to go through the rear gate.

Maybe you can go to a Buy Buy Baby and ask to try fitting three of their narrowest car seats in your minivan. It's so much cheaper than buying a new car :-)

My mom has a Lexis 300 (or something like that) and she has been able to fit 3 car seats in a row. I think one was a booster, but it was a high back booster, and all 3 still fit.

We just bought a new vehicle for just this reason, but I needed a new car anyways because my other was old (14 yrs) and had a lot of miles on it. Anyhow like the others already said, the newer Honda Odyssey's can fit 3 across the first row. We bought our 2012 Honda Odyssey for just this reason. The outermost seats in the front row can be slide outwards to accommodate just this situation. We don't have 3 across, rather put our oldest daughter in the back row by herself because we didn't want to have to have people climb through the back just to use the last row. In fact we actually have one of the side seats taken out for now so it's easier to her to access the back row. So 2 kids in carseats in first row (middle and side) and one in back row. It's nice having that space inside with the removed seat too in order to do stuff like diaper changes, etc. And it can easily be put back in whenever we need it.

That said, the Sunshine Radian seats (now Diono's) are tall/narrow so can fit 3 across in a lot of vehicles. If I hadn't had a bunch of carseats already and really needed a new car, I might have gone that route rather than buying a new vehicle.

We have an Expedition and it will fit 2 boosters and the Britax car seat with the head wings (I forget what that one is called - Marathon?) in the middle row. We have actually done it before, though it's a tight fit.
