Hi N.,
Just wait 'til the baby is all of a sudden .. a teenager. I ask myself everyday "where did the time go".
Came home from work yesterday and was confused when I saw my 2 1/2 month old baby. She has been in footsie pajamas since she was born but because it was warm yesterday, my husband had put her in just a onsie. She was taking a nap on our bed and I swear, I did not recognize her!!! She looked like she had gained 10 pounds and grew a foot from that morning! For a split second I even thought that my husband switched babies on me (checked for her birthmark). LOL!!!
For the rest of the night I just stared at her in amazement. How did she get to be so big!!!
Have any of you working moms have this happen to you? You go to work for the day and when you come home your child has changed so much you barely recognize them?
thanks for all the stories!! When I mentioned the change I saw in our baby to my husband it made him see it too. He's a SAHD and didn't notice it until I said something. Then last night while he was holding her, he looked down and said, "wow... that went by fast. Our babies going away." He then gave me a pouty look... It was so sweet. :)
Hi N.,

Mine lost his first tooth this week. Now every time he smiles, I see that gap and it's a reminder and I think wow-what happened to my baby?
I had a baby just a few weeks ago,,, and now he is 33 years old.
Awww! So sweet! That has happened to me too. When my daughter was a baby, I swear she woke up one morning and grew like 6 inches, even my husband thought so. I'm a SAHM so the days just blend into one another and things become a blur. But, there will be times when I'll just look at one of my kids and be shocked at the changes I see and then feel sad that I didn't notice them coming on.
Yes, and it will likely happen again. Someday she will suddenly look womanly. You will feel proud, awed, frightened and have an incredible urge to cry all at once! It truly is amazing!
I'm a SAHM so I'm around 24/7.
I swear there are days when my almost four year old wakes up from a nap and he looks taller and more mature. Who knows, it's probably the lack of sleep and my aging eyes?! :)
My son's fourth birthday is approaching. He was just an infant ten minutes ago, I swear! Here's a quote I heard recently:
In youth, the days are short, but the years are long.
In parenting, the days are long, but the years are short.
My advice? Take way more pictures than you think necessary. Document everything, especially every "first." And don't blink.
I cry every time I hear this song. It fits here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f0p5KqdU9U
God Bless!
My babies are 4y and 9y. One of each so each will always be my baby x. They are growing so fast. Yet, just the other night they were both sleeping in the beds sprawled out with their heads just right and they were my chubby cheeked babies for long ago.

You don't have to have a paying job to have that happen. One day you look and think, "Who's that?" Sometimes it's just seeing your baby in a different setting; sometimes it's looking at clothes and realizing that your baby is the right or wrong size. I have a new grandbaby and every time I lay eyes on him I wonder where that little newborn went. He's all of nine weeks old!
My first baby is turning 7 this weekend. I was looking at her 1 month photo last night. Same girl, but wow! Just wait...
Yes...It still does....My five year old is so tall and just this morning when I went into the boys room (both still asleep) I was amazed at how big my three year old looked in his bed and the baby in his crib. Next year at this time he will be in a big boy bed :)
Soak all those moments up with your eyes and take video and pictures :)
Oh yeah! Just recently I swear our 2.5 year old son woke up looking like a completely different kid than when he went to bed the night before.
Just wait till she gets her hair cut...that ALWAYS makes them look soooooo different.
Enjoy her mama, it really does go by so fast.
I had that moment the other day.. I had my 2 year old on my lap and we were watching home videos from the day he came home from the hospital to present. It was a crazy reminder of how time flies when you're having fun! enjoy your baby and try not to work too hard :)
I remember my son being in about seventh grade and I swear he went to sleep with his feet shorter than the bed, then woke up and they were hanging off. Isn't it incredible?
.
my kids go to my parents out of state for 2-3 weeks every summer. They look different every time I pick them up after their stay. It's amazing, but kids just change so rapidly.
It's happening to me on a bigger scale. My oldest is turning 17 next week and I can hardly believe it. Laying in bed now is my 6 foot 150 pound baby! When does this happen? I was just thinking the other day about him turning 17, then each day after that is one day closer to him being 18 and an adult. Then I thought, I still have son #2, then I thought geez he is going to be 16 next month. My baby will be able to drive! It's really overwhelming to think about and the time seems to go so quickly.
My daughter is 2.5 years old and I just can't believe how much she has changed from when I held her and happily cried at the hospital. The time really does go by so fast, whether you work or stay at home. I can't believe that she can talk and count and run and has her own opinions that she talks about. It's so unbelievably awesome to watch your baby grow. In a couple years you'll see another baby who is 3 months or so and be like wow I can't believe my child was that little. I have my daughter's first pair of little shoes and I am still in amazement how small her feet once were.
not going to work and coming home... but my husband and I got a weekend away in February. We dropped the girls off with friends on Friday and picked them up Monday night.
When we picked them up on Monday night, my 2yo girl looked HUGE... I swear they switched her out with a changling baby!
When you see them every day (and they're dressed the same every day), you don't really recognize the little differences. It's when you haven't seen them, or they change from their routine that you realize WOW they ARE growing!! Footsie pajamas cover from neck to toes, and the pattern ties everythign together. Switch to a onesie, and suddenly you've got the contract of fabric and cute chubby thighs!
As you start dressing her if spring/summer clothes, you'll fall back into that not noticing the growing so much! Enjoy.
Not as much, maybe because I see them all the time but the other day we went to buy my daughter a new swim set and when I came to see I was shock, sad, happy I don't know. She looked like a little lady, I can't believe time went so fast.
My husband on the other hand suffers all the time, one day we had a discussion about it because he kept pointing on how different the little looked after a week without really seeing her (he does watch us from internet but is not the same) I got upset because he almost never point at our older daughter, but he did told me that he notice stuff but it they weren't as amazingly different as one day be gone without toothless baby and the next there is 2!
I guess I can understand that.
My daughter is 10 month old. Her 1st birthday is in May. I have pictures of her at my desk of when she was 1 day old till now I always look back at it. Seeing how much she grew & how much more growing she has to do.
I love every moment of it
This happened to me with my oldest son when I had my middle son. My in laws took the older son (15 months old) for 2 weeks when I had the younger son. I kissed him goodbye. talked on the phone with him. well i talked he listened and babbled. when they brought him home he looked like a 3 year old compaired to the baby lol. they had had his hair cut and got him some nike tennis shoes so no baby shoes. he looked like a big boy.
