Hi! A few months ago on this site someone asked for advice about finding a real estate agent who would work with you even if you didn't have the best credit. We are in somewhat of the same situation. We have one major blip on our credit and need to see if it is even possible for us to start looking to buy a house. I would appreciate hearing from someone who was in the same position and bought a house and finding out who the real estate agent was, etc.

Well, it's not the agent that matters. It's the lending broker. We had a great experience with First United Mortgage. I don't have the # handy and forget the name of the agent that helped us. But anyone there could.

My husband and I just bought a house this summer. The lending agent that we used was Bryan Huebert at First Horizon. They had the best fees and they really worked hard for us to close in three days. I loved my real estate agent Marlene Williams with Remax. Start with First Horizon to see if you qualify, we were denied for financing from a couple lenders. Be careful of nationally advertised lenders. They can have large fees for closing and penalties for early pay or refinancing. Hope this helps.

I suggest your first step is to secure financing. Once you have the financing secure most any real estate agent will work with you. It's the financing that's going to be the challenge, especially with the mortgage industry as it is today. The real estate agent may suggest lenders - but bottom line you have to get the financing. My daughter works in the mortgage industry and has been pleased with Countrywide so this may be a place to start.
