I was diagnosed with bursitis a week ago. Put on Predizone for a week and overdid it on Saturday. Steps I think was the culprit. Have any of you had bursitis? It is excruciatiing pain.. Any home remedy that you know of? I feel really old!

What can I do next?

My mom has it in several of her joints. Her Dr. told her the best thing for it is walking or H2O classes. She refuses to walk anywhere, even takes the car to drive to the neighbors house just two houses down!! She did sign up for the classes at a community center and she says it's helping. Her Dr. also referred her to physical therapy for deep tissue work and she was doing a lot better when she had it, but now her sessions are done and she told me yesterday the pain is coming back. Also a co-worker told me years ago that heat then ice several times thru out the day is what she does for hers.

I've had it in my shoulder. I broke my clavical about 7 yrs ago. Never been the same. The pain gets worse in the winter. My shoulder locks up and i hardly have any range in lifting my arm and its painful. I put heating pads on it mostly.

I've had it in my hip. Getting on the eliptical machine really helps. I also do stretches on a foam roller.

I've had bursitis in my elbow several times. The key to cure is to rest the joint. The joint is inflamed and using it causes the joint to rub against the bursa which adds to the inflammation. The prednizone helps to relieve the inflammation but if you continue to irritate the joint the inflammation doesn't go away as fast. This is info given to me by a couple of different doctors.

Home remedy. Rest and either heat or cold for pain.

I have hip bursitis. It is very painful. Going to rehab didn't help and getting cortizone shots didn't help. I have lost 35 pounds and am now able to walk on the treadmill. So the biggest thing for me was losing weight. It is still there but not bad. I also take fish oil tablets. My sister takes them and it helped her arthritis so I started taking them to see if they would help. And I think they have too.
