Hi! I am currently looking for sites that are helpful to a family on a tight budget. Any information on great thrift shops for nice clothing, places to get discount sporting goods, great coupons, swap or trade websites, a place to rent games and movies for one low fee per month, etc... would be very helpful. I am also looking forward to hearing any budgeting ideas you would like to share. Thanks in advance! =)
*I am located in McKinney and go to the Allen and Plano areas all the time*

T.,
Women love to shop, but spending money is another thing altogether......Yuck! My sister and I used to go to garage sales every weekend. Just for a couple of hours. We got that shopping urge out without denting the budget.

Many times we found nothing and other times we did great! Everything from clothes, to furniture, to kitchen items to sports items or toys. Tools, linens, etc... It's fun and it's affordable. If you have a young child that wants to tag along, give them a dollar or two to spend. They will find something wonderful and feel great!

There is a goodwill store in carrollton. Often you can find clothes items there.
Best of Luck,
P.

T., I recommend Dave Ramsey's site, too. He has a free budgeting worksheet on there that is wonderful. The Financial Peace University is AWESOME!

I use the Grocery Game to get super discounted and/or free items at the grocery and drug stores. We love it!
Our family has saved lots of money using this site and love that we get name-brand items for less or free.

If you like to eat out, sign up for the restaurant's web specials. You can get free stuff from Chuck E. Cheese (free coins for your child's birthday), Incredible Pizza, and lots more sites. Toys R Us will call your child for their birthday and send you a card for a free surprise at the store, too! Academy Sports store has e-mails that include discounts to recipients only. Red Box is great for renting movies- only $1 per night per movie.

I just saw a site on the Today Show this morning that looks helpful: http://www.yardsaletreasuremap.com/
It maps all the yard sales that are listed on craigslist in a given area.

Also, Quicken has some great free resources online to help with personal budgets. http://quicken.intuit.com/

Finally, www.diaperswappers.com has a HUGE community of moms buying/seliing/trading things for their families. It started as a cloth diaper trading site, but there are also many people there selling clothes and other items. I love it but it can be overwhelming at first. Send me a message if I can help you get into it.

Good luck!
