I have the Britax Marathon car seat and will be flying with my one year old son. Will that car seat fit in a standard plane seat? Is it a tight fit for the neighbors on either side?

How did you transport it through the airport?
Thanks!

I, too, used the. GoGol Kidz travelmate and found a more economically priced one compared to retail price on Ebay.

I have flown with mine twice and it was fine. The only glitch I ran into was the first time I had it all buckled in and the flight attendant said it had to be in a window seat, so we did some quick rearranging.

I have flown several times with the same car seat. The airlines force you to put it against the window, so you will be the only person sitting next to it. it is a tight fit, but it does fit. The hardest part is getting the seatbelt threaded through.

Couple other travel tips...try to get the bulkhead seats so your toddler can't kick the seat in front of them. They make these cool wheels that hook onto your car seat and turn it into a stroller. They are called Go Kidz. I love mine!!!!! I got it at Lazars.

We just traveled in June and used our Britax Marathon. It fit just fine and we had no problems. We traveled with Southwest. We put it on our umbrella stroller as we walked through the airport.

I have flown with the Britax Marathon. It was fine in the seat -- I sat next to it, and was not a bit uncomfortable. (FYI car seat aged kids have to sit by the window to avoid difficulties getting out over the carseat in an emergency). The only caveat I give you -- don't strap it in too tight. The first time we strapped it in as tightly as we would in the car, and it took two stewardesses to disconnect the arm of the seat so we could get our hands back behind the seat to undo the belt.

I just lugged our car seats through the airport by strapping one arm through one of the arm belts and putting the seat on my back like a very heavy backpack. However, at Babies R Us you can get a wheel frame so you can use the car seat like a stroller (kind of like a luggage cart). I couldn't figure out how to use that with my twins because of the way the arms come out, but other moms in airports seem to use them very efficiently.

Have a good flight!

Used ours to fly to Ireland, fit fine --though we were the neighbor's on either side.

We bought one of those attachments to put on the suitcase to roll it but didn't end up using it. Hubby just carried it. Pain, but the roller thing just wasn't very good.

It will work. We bought one of those wheeling things that attaches to a car seat and wheeled our kids through the airport that way. The wheel attachment had to come off to fit through security, but it's easy to do. You may or may not be able to wheel him down the aisle of the plane. On the way there, my daughter fit, on the way home, I had to carry the seat down the aisle. Weird because it was the exact same type of plane. Don't know what airlines you're flying but American let us preboard on the way home when we requested it at the gate. You may have to ask for a seat belt extender in order to make your life much easier to attach the seat in the airplane.

I flew by myself with the Boulevard and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. If you don't need your stroller at your destination and can rent one when you do need it (at the mall, zoo etc.) I use the GoGo Kidz travelmate (http://www.gogobabyz.com/product-i14550-c26-g6-b0-p0-gogo....

On page 2 of this thread scroll down a bit and it's a post about installing a Marathon on a plane. Have fun! http://windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=130402&...

you might want to look into the CARES system. It works with the airline seat belt to create a 5 point harness and is FAA approved. We used it for our daughter at 17 months and it worked great. The whole thing weighs a pound and fits in a carry one bag.

I have yet to take a carseat on a plane (I check it at the front). I have four children (haven't flown with the babies) and always prefered letting them have the space the seat provides. My daughter was able to lay down and sleep comfortably.

A friend loved the flight vest or flight harness for her daughter to be able to strap her down when needed.

Depending on the length of your flight, you may consider this option. Just bring new, fun toys and snacks, that always helps.

Good luck.

Ask for a seat belt extension from the flight attendant, it will make it easier to remove the seat after the flight. They will tell you it is not needed but it will make YOUR life easier.

The people on either side will have room, however the person in front of your child will probably get kicked throughout the flight if he puts his seat back!

I have traveled w/the marathon many times. I put it on top of the stroller seat and then put my child in it and strolled thru the airport. It is not "latched" in, but it has always worked great for me. At the gate, I take it off (along with my other gear, fold up the stroller and try to get everything on the plane - lol. It is a big seat - but I have always put it by the window for the view for the child and sat next to it and it hasn't been a problem.

Good luck and happy travels!!

I travel alot for work, and am lucky enough to bring my daughter (15 trips in about 4 months). I used my britax marathon, along with the Go Go Kids Travelmate. It has been awesome! My daughter likes it too. Very easy to use...well worth the money! Also easy to go through the airport security stuff! Hope this helps- good luck
