my Daughter will be 22 months old on 11/04 and I think its time to wean her from her bottle......she only drinks from it when she is taking a nap or when she is going to bed.....all other times she drinks out of a cup or a sippy.......How do I go about taking away the bottle??? Do i just do it all at one time and not give her a bottle when i put her to bed tonight.......

What can I do next?

As soon as my son tured one year i just threw all the bottles away and gave him sippy cups. i had no problem with him crying for a bottle! It might be harder because she is a little older but i would just throw them a way so she can't even see them

I started giving my sons less milk in their bottle, so they got used to going to bed without it. Then I threw out the bottles (while they were not around!) and next time told them there weren't any bottles. After a few nights, they stopped asking for a bottle. but there was never any crying, etc.

It depends on your child and how much she asks for her bottle before bed. My sons were pretty attached. Also my goal was for them to not drink anything before bed (potty training!)

Have Fun!

I took bottles away from my munchkins a few months ago, they were probably around 15 months I think, cold turkey, no more bottles at all. Just gave them sippy cups, it only took a day or two for them to get used to it. You have to be firm with yourself and make up your mind to stick with your decision and dont give in!

I took my son off his bottle at 12 months...wow...was I premature ? He got a sippy cup in place of a bottle 1 day and I tossed all his bottles the next day. I was told that the earlier you take the bottle/pacifier away, the better the transition would go, and I must say that it was so easy...and remember, once you've made the change, the more you give in and let them have the bottle back when they won't stop asking for it, the longer/harder it will be. My advice, chuck the bottles altogether so that you cannot go back on the new rule of NO BOTTLE, substitute a sippy cup at bedtime for a few days, then give the night sippy cup right before bed but not in bed, and you'll be done with the whole thing in no time. DON'T GIVE IN !!!

At this point, the only time you ave left to take it from her is when she sleeps. Start with naps then bedtime. It won't be hard to do. My son just took his sippy cup instead and never fussed about it.
