I'd really like to read my son a chapter each night before bed. What are some good books for a 5 year old boy? I'd like chapters that could take 10 or 15 minutes to read.
I just recently read Charlotte's Web to my daughter and she's 4.5 - she really enjoyed it. You could try that, or Stuart Little. He might also like The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. Also, Charlie and Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

They aren't chapter books, but my son loves the Froggy series. He has about four of them, and even at 8 years old he likes to read them over and over again. Berenstein Bears is a classic read as well.
I second the Magic Treehouse series! We have been borrowing the ebooks and working our way through the series (currently on book 16, Hour of the Olympics). My son who is almost five really likes them.
I have been reading the Ramona books (Beverly Cleary) to my 7 year old, they are funny and teach lessons that are apprpriate for that age group. He also enjoys the Superfudge books (Judy Blume).
I haven't ever read any of them, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Magic Tree House books. My 5 year old daughter loves the Clementine books by Sara Pennypacker and she giggles nonstop while I read to her.

Great ideas for books! Did anyone mention Mercy Watson books? Those are a lot of fun. Mrs. Dole is out of Control and the other "weird school" books are another idea. The Arthur series of chapter books are good, too. Franklin books aren't chapter books, but the reading level is fairly high and they offer interesting plots and characters with a good pace.
