I've heard fantastic things about American Girl: Care and Keeping of you.
It talks about body changes, but also things like skin and hair care during puberty, healthy eating, etc.
I am needing a good book to get for my 8 year old daughter. She is in the 2nd grade and is super tall for her age which bothers her. She doesn't get teased at school but it bothers her. b/c she is the tallest in her class. Also I noticed she is starting to develop. I think this is early but I was a late bloomer so maybe this is when girls normally start to develop breasts. She doesn't need a bra or anything but I am sure it will be in our future. Anything I can do to help her feel better about growing up. She is our only daughter so this is new to me!

Your children's librarian or resource librarian should be able to look at their reference books in topics and find a whole list of specific books for this. If your girl goes to child care that teacher might have a resource file of books on that topic too.
I highly second the suggestion for the American Girl book. I got this for my daughter last year when she was 8. She was mildly interested, but this year has read it several times. She is tall for her age too, & the book touches on that & how girls may be different & feel about it. It's not just about the obvious things about puberty. My daughter is now going through some of the emotional changes--mood swings, sensitivity, etc. A book that helped with that is An American The Feelings Book The Care & Keeping of Your Emotions. I pre-read each book then gave them to my daughter. When she finished each, I asked her if she had any questions, concerns, or just wanted to discuss any of it. We usually discuss these things little by little, just us, hanging out on my bed, or doing something together in the kitchen. Also, take her shopping for a couple training bras, maybe pick out a cute outfit, then wear them out to lunch, just the 2 of you. My daughter had so much fun doing this with me. Good luck!
I don't have any good suggestions for books about height per se, but the children's librarian at your local library should have some good ideas. Librarians are great resources, and know lots of things.
About development, I've heard the book "The Care and Keeping of Me", or something close to that in the American Girls series is a good book for issues like this. Again, I'd talk to the librarian. They're among some of my favorite people.
I'm interested to see what others have to share.
Go to the web site A Mighty Girl. They have a great list of books!
