Boob Job/tummy Tuck After 2 Babies

Before motherhood, I was a C cup and with good abs. Now after nursing 2 babies and having lost all the baby weight (I'm done with having kids), my boobs are saggy/floppy and I have extra skin around my abs. Has anyone had boob job and/or tummy tuck? If so,how long is the recovery before you can begin carrying your kids around? what was the age of your youngest child when you did the surgery? are you glad you did it? any advice and suggestions?

Hi there E. D,
I have had thre kids and also sag in areas I did not know that I had.So what I do and did is ride my bike as much as I can,I lift a 10lb weight when I can and do sit ups when I can.
I have also gone to three doctors about getting a tummy tuck and found out that they are very very exspensive. One quoted me 8,000.oo and the other one 10,000.oo and the other guy I just did not like so I counted him out and he was about 5,000.00.The two I liked told me it would be 2wke to a month for me to recover.I can not aford that the money and to loose the work so I do what I can and look down at the streach marks I have as love wounds and that I might not like them they are a part of me and my kids.I still wear a two piece and if im o.k with myself thats all that counts

Hello,
I worked for a Plastic Surgeon in Newport Beach as his Patient Coordinator so I know all about this. You don't want to do a lot of lifting after your breast augmentation or your tummy tuck. Give yourself a couple of months for that, but only about 10 days to feel like yourself again. Healing is not bad. Many of the TT patients said that it was easier than their c-section. You will feel so much happier after you do it...it's a big step but will help you feel like your old self again! Go to at least 3 consultations...good ones. I don't know where you are located, but Dr. Sanjay Grover in Newport Beach is great and so is Dr. Arvin Taneja in Tustin. Both are Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and awesome. Tell them M. referred you...I know them.
Good luck!

Hi E.,

I was just like you. Mourned the loss of my breasts, had udders instead!!! and a saggy belly. On Dec 1, I had a breast lift (no implants) and a tummy tuck, and I feel like a new preson already!!! My breasts look amazing!! and tummy too. Luckily, I am with my folks while I recover, and they are helping out with my 2 boys (14 months and 3). I was on painkillers for 4 or so days after surgery, but now I am feeling great. Took a few days to walk upright, but now no problem. I have to wear a corset and quite a serious bra for 6 weeks, but it is bearable..you hardly notice the corset under clothes.
Also, I am not to do anything strenuous (work out, pick up eldest child) for 6 weeks. I did carry my youngest this morning, but try not to do it too often. They can sit on my lap no problem.
I hiope this has been useful for you. If you have any other questions, let me know. As everyuthing is still fresh, hope I can gie you any info you need.

L.

P.S, would love to refer you to my dr, but he is in South Africa...I grew up here, my parents still live here, and surgery is much cheaper here....
i say go for it!!!! Find a good dr, get some help with kiddies, and do it.

Hi, I just had a baby, I know how you feel! I also know where how you can actually get a DISCOUNT on Cosmetic Surgery. I am not sure if it includes Breast Augmentation, but it does cover body and face lifts, liposuction, tummytucks. It is a nonconventional Medical Plan, that offers Discounts in all areas of Medicine. This plan is under thirty dollars a month and covers everyone in your household. It includes all specialists, pyhsicians, holistic, and cosmetic!

Make sure you are really, really, really done. Like surgically "fixed", otherwise the money spent will all be for nothing. I nursed after I got my new boobs, and now they are just BIG, saggy/floppy boobs. Nobody told me that implants or not, big boobs sag eventually. I had never considered that. So even when I go get them done again, which I'm undecided about, the skin will eventually sag again. Gravity sucks!

The first question that comes to mind is, are you absolutly finished having kids?

hi erin
i work for an outpatient plastic surgery center. the recovery for both these procedures is several weeks. with breast surgery you arent even supposed to lift your arms above your head in addition to no lifting over 5 lbs. i have actually seen someone who had to come in for an emergency hematoma removal after not following dr directions. tummy tuck is the same thing no lifting, bending over. its rest rest rest. if you do decide to have these procedures done and you have someone to watch the kids, there are places you can go to recover that are very good--then you wouldnt be tempted to do the forbidden things for at least a short time.

I only have one baby and pregnant with the next. I do plan on having another 1 or 2 ..but when I am done, really done. Like Surgically fixed and hubby has been too...I am DEFINATLY going in for the super mom makeover. Boobs, tummy, lipo, the whoel shabang. Why not. You give your body to making those beautiful children, I dont think it is a whole lot to ask to get back to pre-baby or better shape. Botom line you feel better about yourself, and that will relate to how you take care of your family. I say do your research, find a reputable, and recommened, licensed plastic surgeon and go check it out. Just be 100% ready cause having all that work done then getting pregnant again would only ruin the job. Good luck

I do not have children but I have had a breast augumentation. My experience has been awful and I am thinking about getting them removed. I have many friends that have also had the surgery and they couldn't be happier about it. This is a hard one because I researched about 10 doctors, interviewed them all and thought I had picked the best one. You just never know. The best advice is do as much research as possible, and go into it knowing that things may not end up how you invisioned it to be. If you have doubts don't do it, but if you want it so bad and are willing to risk the out come it could work out for you. If you want to talk more about it, I can go into detail. In the end you need to do what makes you happy.

I had a tummy tuck as part of reconstructive surgery after breast cancer. I cannot imagine anyone who works with women who do this routinely saying recovery wasn't a big deal. It was definitely a difficult recovery. At the time I was working with kindergarteners and after six weeks (which is absolutely how much time I needed to recover), I was still a little eeky about them hugging me because of sensitivity.

That said, the results are great. But I wouldn't have done it for purely cosmetic reasons, surgery has its risks, and I personally wouldn't assume them unless it was medically necessary. Too scary for me.
