I remember being told any clots 'larger than a baseball' warranted a call to the doc. Just the thought of a clot that big scared me. I would call. Good luck!
I delivered my son on September 18th. I had to have another c-section so I am still alittle sore. Last night I had a massive gush of blood that went right through the pad. My clothes were covered in blood. I was alittle freaked out at first. I felt alittle weird for about an hour and then was in the bathroom with stomach pains and the runs. It made my husband so nervous that he was ready to take me to the hospital last night. I really don't remember this happening with my daughter. I have very light spotting this morning. Is this something that is normal or should I be worried? Is it my body getting rid of what was left over? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
Woke up this morning feeling fine. No fever and a little bit of brown on the pad. Talked to dr and he said I am fine and may be doing too much at once. Its hard when you have a 3 1/2 yr old running around. My husand must have called 10 times today checking on me. What a sweety. Thank you all for your advice and kind words. It is very much appreciated.

Congratulations!!! What you experienced is pretty common. I had C-sections and this happens especially if this is your first C. Plus it has only been 11 days since you gave birth. Don't push yourself too hard because that can contribute to it as well. If it continues to happen that way make sure to follow-up with your OB. But I think if you are not experiencing any pain or fever or any other symptoms I think you're fine. Having the runs too is normal. Your body is getting rid of all the "junk" they pumped into you at the hospital.
My Dr. told me "gushing" is not OK. Heavy bleeding, yes. Gushing through a pad and your clothing, no. This definitely warrants a call to your Dr. ASAP.
It can absolutely be nothing, but my Dr. told me any sudden, large amount of blood...warrants a call, at least...just in case.
I have given birth to 2 kids and this never happened to me. My doctor told me any clot bigger than a quarter warrants a call to her. Most likely you are fine but post-partem hemmorhage is a real concern so please call your doctor!
Yes, it's your body flushing out. It's scary and gross, but it's normal.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on your new little one!!!
I had that happen after I lost my daughter - it was scary. We called the OB/GYN and she said if you have a fever - come in now. There was no fever just feeling totally funky for about 6 hours...then fine.
Had the check up one week later and everything was fine and didn't happen again.
It sounds like your body is just getting rid of things. IF you have a fever or another gush of blood - call your OB/GYN and let them know.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I cannot speak to c-section but I do know that no matter how you deliver you still have time where your body needs to get rid of the left over junk in there.
After my third baby, I had a meeting about 40 minutes from my house. I was 3 weeks postpartum, as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I had a HUGE gush of blood that soaked my clothes, the seat in my car, everything. I had never had that happen with any of my other 3 kids and needless to say had to go home and reschedule the meeting.
I did call the doc and he was not alarmed at all. You are probably fine, you body is just working out the rest of the stuff. Call your doc just to be sure.
Good luck and congrats!
My dr said bleeding is normal for a few weeks because your uterus needs to shrink and heal from the incision. But I don't remember gushes of blood that bad, I remember passing small clots. I would call just to be on the safe side.
depends... was the color bright red blood or more darker blood? Darker blood is older blood, bright red means just from a wound type of thing. I'd call your OB about this anyways RIGHT NOW.
Call your doctor just to be on the safe side. Remember every c-section like every pregnancy is different.
Bleeding after birth, whether vaginal birth or cesarean delivery is normal. A huge gush that soaks your pad and clothes is not. If something questionable happens after birth, you should contact your doctor or midwife.
