I do not have this TV but I do know that you can adjust the aspect ratio and that should help with the picture coming in correctly...
Did anyone get the 40" Westinghouse TV from Target on Black Friday? The price was right as we got one for the play room. I was just wondering how it was working for you? The one I got was missing two parts in the box (the power cord and retaining kit for the stand). We received the power cord from Westinghouse but have been trying to get the retaining kit from them for over a month now. I was wondering if it's a good enough tv to be worth the hassle of getting this missing part or if we should just return the tv. We hooked it up to the cable tonight and we're thinking it needs to be connected to a cable box for the non-HD channels to come in. Cable boxes are an added cost each month I'm not sure I want right now. The tv has a widescreen but the picture we were getting was square and didn't fit the screen (words on the screen were even cut off). I don't know if any of these issues can be corrected with the set-up function, we'll call technical support tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for all your input. I had never heard not to buy electronics on black Friday but I believe it. I guess I was one of the suckers this year. Well, my husband was fed up with the tv and returned it the other day. He looked the company up on-line and found nothing but bad reviews and negative info on it. I did some research before purchasing the tv too but I guess my search wasn't up to par. Anyway the tv's gone and I've learned my lesson not to buy electronics on BF. When my husband returned the BF tv, he got another one from Target that is on sale cheap. All channels of the tv work but it doesn't fit in our entertainment center. The saga continues.....

This is one of the many reasons not to buy black Friday electronics especially tvs. There was a news report done on it and most of he tvs are made just for black Friday even he big brands sell tvs that are slightly different from their regular models which is why they can sell them cheaper. I'd attempt to return it but that's just me.
Edited: those tvs have really bad reviews 1 star
We just went throught the same thing. The cut off screens are because you are watching HD channels, without an HD receiver. We have Dish Network and do not want pay even more money just so our kids can watch HD tv. We ended up returning the tv and got a $25 "old fashioned" box tv from craigslist. The kids know no different.
I don't have this TV but the cut offs are usually because the channels are coming in HD take a look at BEST BUY they have the same issues I noticed that shopping for ours when we get HD on movie channels it is ok till we flip over the HDTV using non dish receiver to get them.I wouldn't take it back now unless it was defective, besides that you knew it was missing pieces why not take it back then instead of holding on to it?Distribution stores are still getting shipments in from the holidays & are back logged.I'm waiting on a mini USB cable for my digital picture frame the store website that I bought it from did say it comes with it inside the box but however when purchased it from the store it wasn't there so they are sending me out one free of charge mine was after Christmas & they have such a high call volume still.
I don't have the tv but just wanted to give you a heads up should you choose to return the tv you better do it fast. Our target is very strict with return policy, you must have receipt for refund and the receipts expire in either 60 or 90 days, I can't remember which.
I've heard time and time again NOT to buy electronics on black Friday. They are made different than normally and that is why they are cheaper. We've only purchased an under the counter radio on BF and it was JUNK! My parents bought one too and they had the same issues with theirs. Both were returned.
