Birthday Party Two Weeks After Actual Birthday?

My poor son's birthday is always put off because his birthday is in April; which is tax season for me - working at a CPA office. I have no time to even eat during that time! I always think I'm gonna stay ahead of the game and plan something but it never works out. He'll be 7. We decided to take him the weekend after his birthday to Downtown Disney. He and some of his friends have asked about a party. We invited just a couple our friends to join us at Downtown Disney if they can but he's asked if so and so can come to my party? I feel bad because he really wanted a party PARTY. So... I was wondering is it ok to have a party two weeks after his actual birthday? That would be the soonest weekend available for everyone.

Thanks!

We had my daughter's party 2 weeks before her birthday due to scheduling conflicts. It's fine, no one is going to know the difference anyway!

Good luck,
K.

I think it is ok. We've always had our daughter's party on her bday (12/27), however, this year, her 16th bday is on a Monday.

We've planned for a Sweet 16 party for a long time at our country club and it so happens that as most country clubs, they are closed on Mondays. So, we are moving this party to early January in order to have it at the club and accomodate friends who might be out of town for the Christmas holiday.

Good luck

yes, I totally think it is acceptable to have his birthday party two weeks later. We celebrated my daughters birthday 2 weeks later, and no one thought anything of it. Good luck and enjoy the party!

Our daughter has a bday in the middle of July.. Usually everybody is out of town on vacation or camp. For many years she celebrated her birthday when we could make sure her friends could attend. On the actual day we would do a family birthday celebration at her favorite restaurant.. Worked fine for her..

Yes two weeks is fine! I used to have my 2-3 months later sometimes since that is what worked best. Have a great party and fun at Downtown Disney!

Yes, you can have a party. I was born on Thanksgiving, and always felt slighted because my family celebrated my birthday in conjunction with Thanksgiving, even in the years when my birthday didn't fall on Thanksgiving. So, if your seven year old is asking, then do whatever you can. Remember, soon enough he won't want you to make a party for him because he'll be "too big" for that!

Have fun.

Oh, don't beat yourself up! Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving - all celebrations that involve being with the people you love. We've learned over the years that being with the people is the important part, not when it occurs.

The fact that you're doing something for him, and he knows how important it is matters the most. When kids get lost in the shuffle is when it's a problem. If you can do something that day just as a family to celebrate the actual day and make him feel special and recognized, I don't think it matters to most kids when they get to celebrate with their friends.

Absolutely!!! There is nothing wrong with that! Kids will be kids and they like the birthday party stuff. My middle son recently had his 10th birthday and I couldn't do anything for him at the time, so two weeks later I took him out and two of his friends (there were supposed to be 3 friends but one was kind of shy and didn't come) and my other two kids to the movies. One of the boys had a sleep over, which was the plan but instead of the 3 only one slept over. We had a good breakfast, they played around and then we went to the movies. His friends knew that it was past his birthday because on his birthday I sent cupcakes and juice to his class. But it was all fine with them and their parents.
So, go for it and enjoy yourselves!!!
Blessings
