Hi Mamas! My baby girl is turning 2 in late April and I want to have a birthday party. We went all out for #1 and I am looking for this to be a little more low-key. We live in the Desert Ridge area so anything in North Phoenix will work. I am thinking about having 10 or less kids and I would like to have it somewhere that can facilitate a few games or playtime for the kids. Everyone will be around her age. Has anyone had a party at Little Gym of Tatum Ranch? What about a birthday party at the Railroad Park in Scottsdale? Thanks in advance for your help!

I usually go all out for my girls' birthday's and wanted something a little more low key for my daughter's 2nd b-day last week too. So, I went with the good old McDonald's party. I was very unsure at first, but it turned out really great. I found one near my house with a party room and that made a big difference. I brought 2 big bundles of balloons and decorated the room with streamers. I added some treats to embellish their goodie bags too. I brought temporary tatoo's also and put them on the kids when they arrived. They loved giving their happy meal order and it was really nice to have someone else dish up and serve cake and ice cream. I passed out the ice cream that was in sundae cups first so they were occupied while the host cut the cake and passed that out. Hannah had a special chair to sit in to open her gifts too. Only downside...the room was small so it was hot. I love to make my kids b-day cakes and did so for her "real" birthday, but they said I could bring my own if I wanted to McDonalds. Cheap and easy!
We did our son's second at Imagination Avenue, on Shea and 32nd St, and it was a blast! The best part was the relatively small, contained, safe area, so the kids could run and play and the adults could chat. All of the kids and parents gave us rave reviews. Plus, the staff there was very helpful!!

The railroad park would be a great place for this time of year. Much later and it will be too hot already again. They have grassy areas to run around in or for games and picnic tables for the cake part. It's been a while, since we were there, so I do not remember if they have ramadas, but I am sure you would have to call for a reservation anyway. The kids will love the train rides and the carousel!
