Birth Control Pills... - Island Park,NY

All birth control pills contain hormones. That's how they work. The hormones in the pill convince your body that you're already pregnant. Other forms that ALSO contain hormones are rings, patches, shots, and the Mirena IUD.

The only forms of birth control that do NOT contain hormones are:

Condoms
Spermacide
Diaphragm
Cervical Cap
Paragard IUD (copper)

There are surgical options, as well, but tubal ligations have been long suspected (and now in the process of being 'proven' through studies, at LONG last) of massive hormonal side effects... and the essure option is too new to know what the long term side effects are (aka if they are the same as a tubal ligation or not).

There is no such thing as a birth control pill without hormones. That just wouldn't make any sense. BCPs work by PREVENTING OVULATION by raising the level of estrogen in your body.

If you're looking for hormone free contraception your options are condoms or an IUD.

Talk to your doctor, though. You might be interested in natural family planning or perhaps a progesterone only method like the shot could work for you.

You should talk to your doc about this one. There are low level hormone pills but not every pill works well for every body. Like all meds, some people experience the "side effects" of the meds like bloating, cramping etc. Sometimes you have to try a few different pills before you get a good fit. I was lucky to be able to take the first I tried. A friend went through 4 different products before finding one that was good for her.

To be honest I dont think there is a such thing as a hormone free pill.

I have a paragard IUD & it's hormone free. It's been awesome & pain free!

There are so many options on the market now (but I havent heard of a hormone-free pill). And there are other pill-free options too. The best pill for one person isnt necessarily going to be the best pill for you. Definitely check with your doctor on options.

Paraguard (copper) IUD. I've had mine for over 6 years now.

Natural Family Planning is the safest, most natural and most ethical method. I love using it. It puts me in control of my own fertility and I don't feel like a sex object!

Birth control pills and other forms like the shot really mess up your body! i just ended up getting my tubes tied bc i knew i was done at 27 with two boys 2 and 3 1/2!! =)

Sheila, there is no such thing as birth control pills without hormones. It's not drugs that are the contraceptives in The Pill, it's hormones. There's no other option for oral birth control. The patch and the things you insert surgically under the skin are hormonal birth control too. If you want non-hormonal options, you need things like a diagphragm, cervical cap, sponge or condoms. The old fashioned copper IUD's dont use hormones either but be sure to understand the risks and how it works before considering it Good luck
